Default Bike rack on a 370Z. (NOT SPAM)

Hi all,

My previous post was removed and I got blocked as a undercover spammer.

It isn't spam and I'm a real dude.

Anyhow, I got back into a new 370 and needed an option to carry my bicycles.

There were a very limited amount of options to make this happen. Boofsquier made a Z specific rack but they are on "hiatus". Uhaul actually offered to use my Z as a test vehicle to build a hitch for the car. I was reluctant to add weight or change the look of the back of the car.

So my final option was a new creation that has received good reviews from interbike, mountain bike action and bicycle magazine. The system is called seasucker. I purchased the mini bomber and have had great success with it.

The thing that sold me on it was a video on their web site. They take the rack and put it on a stockcar and do a few laps at 140 mph. You can also put it on any vehicle easily.

So, of you still wanna carry a bike and not make any permanent visible changes to your Z, it is an option.

Hope it helps someone

Eric

Jk, that's a pretty cool idea. Need to be really carefully loading the bikes though. Any slip up and you'll have some significant scratches on your trunk.

I'm super careful with both bikes and car. I ride a full carbon Stumpy 29er hardtail and a full carbon Roubaix. Both are under 25lbs. Barely notice they are there. A little wind wobble but that's pretty standard for any roof system. Roll from LA to Phoenix at about about 85-90 mph

Each suction cup is rated for about 210lbs of torque. Check out the videos @ seasucker.com

Default Another option for a bike rack

After selling my mini cooper and buying a 370z I was looking for options for a bike rack. I had a Thule rack on the mini (which I kept for use on another car). After a couple beers one night I decided to try the Thule rack on the Z. To my surprise it worked perfectly! The Mini cooper mount pads and hooks fit nicely on the rear hatch of the Z. Its a bit heavy (especially with bikes or skis on it) but it works. Using the Thule rack allows for the use of bike mounts without removing the front tire (necessary for my Cannondale Lefty and nice not to put a muddy tire in the car). Save the comments about trading the car in for a Subaru, I love this car, and adding the rack is a great option for those who want to keep the fun of a Z with a bit more utility. I will post pics if anyone is interested.

Default What's Your Secret...

Do you have a special technique for getting the bikes on and off the rack without scratching the car? Come to think of it, ...and without throwing your back out?!?!

Seriously!

i think i paid around $400 for the whole set up, i opted for the bigger skewers too, make loading and unloading easier. I typically mount the fork first, lock it in then mount the rear on the rear window. Works like a champ, no issues.

As an avid cyclist, will look into this! thanks, normally I use my Magnum for bikes and paddleboards and only use the Z for golfclubs.

I refuse to have my bike anywhere near my Z.. That's what my roommate's truck is for.
