racing strip[es on a black cherry
I am thinking about racing stipes on my black cherry. My buddy that went to school for body work is recommending I find out how much pearl is used and match that with silver. Any other ideas on color? I looked for some images of our car with racing stripes to get an idea of what pattern to use. But all I come up with is the GT edition. 1 big one 2 small one? The 2 ridges in the hood concern me with the stipes flowing with the body.

...how about...........no.

I had thought of this. I thought a cream or white might go with it, but it would be awfully hard to keep clean.
|
The only stripes/graphics I've seen are the Nismo lines and the GT Edition in Britain, but neither of them look good on any color I'm afraid. Stripes on the Z just don't work well for ours. :twocents:

I really like the look of the GT lines. Getting some painted on might not look too tacky.

Please don't...
The black cherry looks cherry. |
Why not try vinyl 1st to see if you like it? You could play around with size and style too. But it's your ride. If you like it, that's all that matters. Good luck.

Hood stripe
I think stripes on the hood look great. Mine would have liked mine a bit closer together though.

Your stripes look alright, but as a blackcherry owner I'd leave the blackcherry alone.
|
I wouldn't do it... not a fan of racing strips unless you plan on putting them on a Viper or something of that caliber.

Falcor had a car painted by Fosberg to match the NOS energy drink. It had a yellow stripe, but he had it removed...
I wouldn't do it on our colour of car. The Black Rose/Cherry is a classy, high end look, not sporty or track look. |

But even at that, I agree with using vinyl stripes over paint. Because vinyl stripes can easily be replaced or removed if you ever get sick of them. |
Does vinyl damage the paint?

Stripes on z is a negative! Ruins everything about it. You want stripes get a camaro or mustang
|
It's all a matter of preference so it's really up to you. Vinyl would be the way to go if I was doing it because it minimizes the problems if you change your mind after you are done.
The stripes that caught my eye are the double slash stripes on the front fender that were sometimes used on the Cobras, Grand Sport Vetts and BRE 240z's. They were used to help the pit crews identify the different team cars as the cars sped past the pits during a race. I kind of like the historic and functional aspect combined with the sense of purpose that they impart. |
Hell no!

Add some flames while you're at it. ..shaking my head..

Just giving him a suggestion. Flames will go well with racing stripes.

The vinyl good idea. I really do like the look of the GT side stripes. If I do go with stripes It would probably be like the pictured 350. The stripes would taper with the hood ridges.

I respect any opinion about the stripes, if you reaaally want them go ahead.;) |

I kind of wonder what a single offset top stripe would look like on a z
Something like this: http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...22972_1686.jpg Or this http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/atta..._blue-copy.jpg http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/atta...e-p1010055.jpg |
Racing stripes can look good on any car, it's just a matter of finding the correct style, color, and size/spacing for the car.
