PASSWORD JDM ENGINE COVERS Fitment issues?

Very glad I ran across this thread; I was getting ready to pull the trigger and purchase these, but for the price it doesn't seem worth the hassle at all.

Not sure when or what I posted before, but someone from Password JDM replied to my post stating that the CF engine bay parts fit the NISMO no problem. Funny thing is that when I talked to them on the phone (probably not the same person), he said the cooling plate is a no-go on the NISMO and the compartment covers may need some massaging into place. Who knows, maybe things have changed since you got yours Simota.

I just over a week ago ordered a large amount of JDM parts for my GFs Scion TC that I spent 2 days installing on, but in there was PWJDM's engine cover and radiator shroud. Same issues, different car model.

Radiator shroud
- Has fitment issues ever so slight, in reference to bolt line up, but nothing for me to complain too much about or have to drill or modify.
- Her hood now has a hard time closing, super tight, but that seems to be due to the fact that the thickness of the radiator support has increased due to the added carbon. Has a silicon gasket that overlaps onto the shroud, and now due to the increased thickness it has a hard time compressing, kinda hard to explain I guess. And now alot more strain on the hood latch cable.
- Clear coat looks pitted and slightly dull in some ares

Valve cover
-Fitment was again off ever so slight
-Didnt either come with new hardware, ie: nuts and washers, or they were designed to be used with the factory hardware, but had a manufacturing flaw and the holes were oversized. Had to source new chrome hardware to attached.
-Again poor clearcoat. Looks like tiny pits all over and dull in some spots.

Off-topic but she half our exhaust tubing, due to being a sigle exit, and the axle back was $500. Sounds great, welds are awesome, and the new exhaust hanger looks great.

Her sways, the front I had to detach the front lower sub frame, yeah not what I was expecting. PITA

the clear coat on the gelcoat on there cf is absolute crap... when i cleared it it always reacted... the body shop doing the clear coat gave up because it would "fish eye" no matter what the hell they did... my solution... i had to shoot it myself... i came up with the solution to shoot the clear at a very low PSI and shoot it as heavy as i could before it would run..... i never had this issue with ANY of my other cf parts... and i have a ton of cf on my z.....

I got a carbon fiber shop down the road and will have them look at it. They take care of both of our carbon fiber snow boards. They also make parts for race teams. See what they recommend.

I just received the JDM CF parts described in this thread and was very disappointed in the quality of the finish. The gel coat is incomplete in that the CF texture shows through in places and one of the pieces had a small gouge on it. I have to agree with others that for the price the finish should be much better. I will report on fit tomorrow.

Edit: Decided to take the pieces to my painter to see if anything could be done about the finish. He told me that clear-coat would not solve the issues with these covers and radiator shroud. I did not even tried to fit them just sending them back. I am requesting that JDM cover the shipment back to vendor.

The fact is that this is a great idea to dress up the engine bay but the execution of the idea is dismal. Clearly JDM does not have a quality control process in place. So buyer beware.

I've had mine for two years now, but yes, there are rub marks on the radiator cover as well as pitting in the clear coat on all three covers which for as much as they cost is disappointing. Also, the radiator cover closes off the windshield wiper fluid container.

I just used a Dremel tool to cut a small piece out and the washer bottle lid is free for an easy fill
