Default Need advise on tint.....

I got my tints done last Saturday.

I noticed the corner of both sides started to creep up due to the constant opening and closing of the window when you open the doors.

I stupidly brabed a razor, and cut off the edge, thinking if I don't it will keep getting worse and worse. The window is fine now.

From the outside you can't tell that the corner is missing.
From the inside there is a quarter of an inch visible that is missing tint now.

Should I leave it alone, or go get it fixed on Saturday?
I already know from my conversation with tthe tint place, that they are going to give me a real hard time becausee I fd with the tint the way I did.

So, am i being anal about the qtr inch, or should I just get it redone, even if I get charged.

Thanks. I didn't realize how bad my OCD is until this happened to me.

Don't worry I am the same way although I would think that is an install issue. Mine did not do this. Did they use a heat gun right after install to help with the drying? I would take it back anyway.

I don't know if the used a heat gun or not. Im in LA, and it was a hot day.

LOL I remeber laying in bed the day it happened and thinking about it. Thats when i realized man I have OCD.

Got my 370Z tinted today!

They are actually going to pay extra attention to this area on all incoming 370Zs. They quickly removed my old tint and put a brand new tint on - no questions ask. Their installation carries lifetime warranty . I have also noticed that instead of having a corner, they cut an oval shape border by the side view mirror area this time. So, if you're getting your tint done, tell them to pay special attention to this area and if possible cut an "oval" shape border instead of a corner. Also, tell them to use the heat gun for a little longer than usual and keep the door open (they may forget sometimes that our glass DOES go up/down )

This is good to know. I'm sure the auto down/up of the window when opening the door only makes things worse. I'll make sure to talk about this with my installer specifically.

Default Same here!!!

370Z Touring Sport...

Same thing happened to me. The dealer tinted the car before I bought it. When I took it home, I saw the same peeling in the same driver and passenger side corners.

My car is currently at the dealer to have the tint redone. If it peels again, I will have them remove the tint all together. I can do without it.

My installer made the bottom slightly longer at the bottom and used a flat spatula looking thing to tuck it in. The seam is not disturbed when the window cracks.

This might be a stupid question but do they apply the tint on inside or outside? The reason i'm asking after seeing the pics is, i stopped and talked to a installer out on site and he was installing on the outside. Said he would do the whole z for $175.00.

Inside. They precut on the outside and then transfer. Look into Hüper Optik ceramic tint, it is expensive but worth it in my opinion. I have it on all my cars and would not think twice about doing it again.

The guy that did mine uses some sort of clamp to keep the door button pushed in. The car thinks the door is closed and the windows stay open.
