EVO-R front fang cover leaving small gap?
I just finished fitting my EVO-R fang cover on my car, and there is a slight gap where the top of the cover almost touches the black grille part. Is this normal? It's not a bad look, I'm just curious. I had to trim the bottom due to the chin spoiler as well.

Yeah it's never perfect. It's just a fiberglass mold with cf on it

I have that problem with mine. The fit is actually perfect, but when I installed with the tape, it stuck before I got it all of the way back. After trying twice, I said, "Screw it" and left it that way.

I got mine used and it never fit perfect, top was fine but it stuck out near the bottom a bit, wasn't flush. I was thinking of yanking it off and maybe shaving some off the underside to see if it goes flush

Ah, ok. Weirdly, after driving around and checking it again, it actually moved itself and closed the gap slightly. One thing I stupidly wasn't thinking about was that when I test fit the piece, I just assumed it would not scratch the paint. Boy, was I wrong. Ah well, live and learn. You won't see the scratches anyway behind the cover.
One trick I learned is to duct tape (I used black Gorilla Tape) the entire inside of the cover. That way, the fit is more snug, and you won't mess your paint up like I did. I haven't secured it down with the 3m just yet (It's snug as a glove, I would trust it staying still without tape or anything) - i still have to enamel the edge I grinded down. Hopefully the fit will stay this way, it looks pretty damn sexy. EVO-R made a damn nice looking piece! Thanks for the help guys. |
