A Pillar Gauge panels?
Did a search, turned up nothing. I can't believe that the 370 has been out for 3 years and there is still no A Pillars gauge pods out for the 370Z? I really want to add water temp and oil pressure and the A Pillar is the easiest place to add without doing major modifications to the interior.
Anyone have a line on these? Worse case I guess I could buy a spare cover and make something in fiberglass... |
IMHO looks to rice or outta place having a a pillar with gauges. A lot of people change out the gauges on the dash or use a monitor system which looks clean and keeps the stock look.
|
yah, guages on a-pillar is so pre- 2005's...
|
I'd change out the center pod gauges, but that is a huge PITA. Not too concerned about looking "Ricey". I'm an old guy...LOL
|
have you considered something like M7 monitoring system or HKS camp 2?

^^ THIS! I beleive it even works with a stock nav as well |
I really just want a set of old school analog gauges. Still boggles my mind that a performance car comes without an oil pressure gauge...
|
Well best bet is to make some custom gauge pod. Who knows many the next generation z will come with one. Never know.
|
If you've got a use for the gauges, it's not ricey in my opinion. Now, a boost gauge on an N/A car... That's ricer. Not like I've ever had a boost gauge on an N/A car or anything...
In my defense, it was that way when I bought it. To answer your question: Autometer makes universal pods that look pretty good, or if we can get enough interest then I could probably have some made. There's a GTM car on YouTube that's got the Autometer pods. |

i would be interested |
Yea I would be as well... Center gauges as is and boost, oil pressure, AFRs on the pillar would be great

I'd be interested in a 2 gauge pod (oil pressure, water temp). The "Row of LEDs" is cheesy and doesn't belong on a serious performance car...

If you are only wanting to add two guages and keep the factory guages in the dash just put them in the glove box. I wanted to keep a factory look but have the additional guages so I pulled the dash (not really that hard took two hours going slow and marking all of the parts) and was able to put in my boost, oil pressure, oil temp in the factory locations and then put my air/fuel and exhaust temp in the glove box. All of them have an audible alarm that you can set depending on your application so you dont even have to have the glove box open and still know if something is going wrong. Additional pics are in my build signature below.

Count me in!

I like the look of required gauges on the pillar. I was going to mold these into the panel but I am not sure I'll even bother. These are out of the way yet easily referenced when needed.

Hey guys, I've got bad news :(
Lotek can't make an A pillar gauge setup because of the airbags. Even if they could, they require 30 units to be bought. My rep says: Quote:
The disclaimer about not being to give a guarantee on the delivery date is common when dealing with development. Lotek is a reputable company. I'd rather them tell me up front that stuff might happen and delays may come up, then tell me 2 days before scheduled completion that it's another 6 wks out or something. Been through that before. It sucks. If anyone wants to talk about getting some dash pods made, I'd be happy to help. We'll need 30 committed buyers, though. |
I thought 370z airbags were on the roof and not the a pillar?
Dont know much about this :) sorry if it sounds like a noob question ! |
That's what I thought too...the side impact airbags came out of the roof above the door window
|
Anyone with a 350z pillar to compare this? I believe this is for a 350z

unless u want a facefull of autometer in a side impact, i wouldnt
|
I would be interested in a 2 gauge dash pod.

I'm not worried about the airbag thing...I'm pretty sure the airbag deploys from the roof. |
im not against having some gauge options in the car. i just wish someoe companie would come up with some different mounting solutions for our cars
|
I cannot believe that Nissan opted to put a clock occupying the far right guage instead of an oil pressure guage. You could put a clock in the far left part of the dash, left of the tach. Then place a 4 pod guage cluster where the 3 pod cluster is and include the water & oil pressure.
No one is perfect though.. |

And this is why I just deleted all airbags lol

I am interested. I have also found it so rare for the 370z NOT to have any A pillar guage pods available. I would love the option of having one or two pod configurations.
I am sure if you go for it and make the mold, more people will come. Dont feel discourage with the small interest on this thread. This is just a thread but once you have the part available, people will spread the word. |
Has anyone looked into this alternative option?
