If you are only wanting to add two guages and keep the factory guages in the dash just put them in the glove box. I wanted to keep a factory look but have the additional guages so I pulled the dash (not really that hard took two hours going slow and marking all of the parts) and was able to put in my boost, oil pressure, oil temp in the factory locations and then put my air/fuel and exhaust temp in the glove box. All of them have an audible alarm that you can set depending on your application so you dont even have to have the glove box open and still know if something is going wrong. Additional pics are in my build signature below.

Count me in!

I like the look of required gauges on the pillar. I was going to mold these into the panel but I am not sure I'll even bother. These are out of the way yet easily referenced when needed.

Hey guys, I've got bad news :(

Lotek can't make an A pillar gauge setup because of the airbags. Even if they could, they require 30 units to be bought. My rep says:

Quote:

Matt:

To produce a production mold for a new item we would need around 30 units be bought upfront. Most likely, though, we will not be able to make an a-pillar mount because of the air curtains. The a-pillars in the new cars are designated as safety devices and cannot be modified in any way. An option would be a place on the console or dash.

Here’s the scoop. Let us know:

All projects must be paid prior to project start. Pricing will be determined after receipt of OEM part for evaluation. Most of our products range from $40-$60 ea. depending on complexity.

REQUIREMENTS:

Name, address, and contact information of project leader. Follow-up will be with project leader only. (Please do not have others call for status)

OEM part from project leader. This will be used for fabricating the mold and is non-returnable.

Make, model and year range specifications.

Color samples (at least 4"x4" sample) of all colors to be painted.

Gauge Size requested (usually 2 1/16" and/or 60mm). Note: some models may not accommodate 60mm gauges due to width limitations.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:

Rough mock-up will be made and sent to project leader. Project leader test-fits mock-up - checking for clearance problems and angle of gauges. Project leader returns the mockup with any modifications and approves the design.

Mold-making process - approx 1-4 weeks

Initial production run - approx 3-4 weeks

Finishing and shipping - approx 1 week after product availability.

*******IMPORTANT********

PRODUCTION SCHEDULING IS COMPLEX AND DELAYS ARE NOT UNCOMMON DUE TO THE NUMBER OF PROJECTS AHEAD OF YOURS, MATERIAL LEAD-TIME, ETC. WE DO OUR BEST TO PROVIDE A REASONABLE ESTIMATE OF DELIVERY TIMES - HOWEVER, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.

The disclaimer about not being to give a guarantee on the delivery date is common when dealing with development. Lotek is a reputable company. I'd rather them tell me up front that stuff might happen and delays may come up, then tell me 2 days before scheduled completion that it's another 6 wks out or something. Been through that before. It sucks.

If anyone wants to talk about getting some dash pods made, I'd be happy to help. We'll need 30 committed buyers, though.

I thought 370z airbags were on the roof and not the a pillar?
Dont know much about this :) sorry if it sounds like a noob question !

That's what I thought too...the side impact airbags came out of the roof above the door window

Anyone with a 350z pillar to compare this? I believe this is for a 350z

I would be interested in a 2 gauge dash pod.

I picked up the Glowshift universal 2 gauge pod. Its not an exact fit, but its close enough that I'm going to buy a spare A pillar cover to mold it to. I think with some heat, and some fiberglass, I can fab up something that will look pretty decent...

I'm not worried about the airbag thing...I'm pretty sure the airbag deploys from the roof.

im not against having some gauge options in the car. i just wish someoe companie would come up with some different mounting solutions for our cars

I cannot believe that Nissan opted to put a clock occupying the far right guage instead of an oil pressure guage. You could put a clock in the far left part of the dash, left of the tach. Then place a 4 pod guage cluster where the 3 pod cluster is and include the water & oil pressure.

No one is perfect though..

the airbags are actually in the piller. I know for sure since you have to take off the cover to remove the dash.

Nissan did that to be pure to the Z heritage. from the first 240 until now there has always been a clock on that far right side.

And this is why I just deleted all airbags lol
