Default JDM Fairlady Z Reverse Fog Light

I ordered the new light with Z1 Motorsports Wiring Harness Long Length.

I followed the DIY from AK370Z for the removal/install of the blank to light and then the instructions included with the harness.

AK370Z was correct when it came to getting the blank out. I had to grind the top nut off the mounting bracket even though I soaked both with liquid wrench. Reinstall was uneventful.

Removal of the trunks interior molding was not to difficult but the instructions were lacking once past the removal of the left side panel. No mention of the plastic molding covering the top of the tail light. Once you pull that off there are 2 10mm bolts holding the tail light. The instructions only reference a single 8mm nut inside the cargo area found after removing the left side molding.

Once past that came my biggest disappointment. The Z1 harness! The wiring harness that runs to the tail light has 6 18 gauge wires going to a connector. The harness provided by Z1 has 2 16 gauge wires and the splices provided are 14/16 gauge. The harness has a plug that attaches to the factory fog light fixture. The other end is unfinished.

I'm disappointed in the harness. I'm left wondering why a connector couldn't be supplied/fabricated that would allow you to plug between the light fixture and harness plug?

I cut the 18 gauge wires in the lighting harness and soldered a 14 gauge jumper to the black and green wires then soldered the jumpers to the Z1 harness.

Once I got the harness wrapped up it wasn't to difficult a process to replace the tail light and molding. I set mine up as a brake light but you have the option to connect it as a running light too.
