Question about headlight paint...
2 Attachment(s)
I am having some body work done on my CY 370z and the body shop replaced one headlight, but just bought the stock one. I believe the previous owner blacked out the headlights. It looks like it was painted. The body shop says that they don't know how to do it because they normally won't break the seal on the headlight.
So my question is how should they proceed? Do they break the seal or is there another way? Also is there an aftermarket headlight that is blacked out? |
looks as if the previous owner had either done the bake and paint himself or he sent it off to either mrworks (which I believe is out of business) or he sent them to 180customs. There is no version of the headlights being blacked out they were done after the fact.

Its a simple process you can do yourself (baking the headlights) then give the parts you want painted to your body shop. I believe there is a DIY here on the forum.

You can also use a heat gun to break the seal though this is for experienced hands only. As incorrect temp will cause the plastics to melt. I did mine with the reference of Digitonium's and Simota's Diy

i did it myself of that car. it wasnt hard. used the oven method as long as you have a large enough oven.

They look amazing. I wouldn't want to risk condensation.

Thanks for the info. I ended up sending them out to 180 customs.
