Password JDM radiator cover.

On Friday I recieved my CF radiator cover from PasswordJDM and it looks great. However, I spent about 3 hours this weekend trying to figure out why it won't fit right. No matter what I tried the right side sits just a bit higher than the left. It almost seems to have a little warp in it. Yes I have made sure that nothing is sitting under it. Am I doing something wrong or do I just have a warped cover?

Very likely warped during the curing process. Interested in one of these, but not with quality issues.

agreed, its most likely warped. If you have a heat gun, you can warm it up and see if it will lay flat, but thats usually a temporary fix.

Take pics and exchange it.

They are known to not fit right, that's why I had my friend Tony aka carbon fiber element wrap my stock piece & everything fits perfect

I posted a thread about it, I wouldn't lie about parts for this car. I have done just about everything you could do to a 370z and post honest reviews. Everyone that has bought this part has had fitment problems, plus it's a rip-off anyway.

I called PW-JDM last night and spoke with Leo. We went through a bunch of possible causes other than a slight warp and the he asked, " ... have you adjusted the bump stops on the underside of the hood?". Bumper stops?? Doh! Went out to the car and found plenty of adjusting play.
Can't work on it tonght, but by Thursday I will get it done.
Damn! forgot all about those.:bowrofl:

DrEvil 12-15-2011 08:52 AM

Not only did I turn down the bump-stop, but eventually took it out and still no good. I called JDM-PW and after a little more trouble shooting, pw-jDM issued me an RA and we will try again.

With so many people having issues, it's likely that the mold itself is warped. The original plastic piece is quite flimsy, so there's a good chance it wasn't holding the right shape when the mold was made.
