Default Pearl White paints..

Are the front, back bumpers and side skirts on PW 370z more of an ivoryish color? I drove 7 hours to purchase an used fully loaded PW 370z about 2 weeks ago and backed off after finding out front, back bumbper and side skirts' paint differs from the body paint(there's pics on my other post on the pricing/ ordering discussion section). I have been on this forum for a while and thought that I did enough research and had enough info about this car. Anyways, while looking at pics in Strickly Pearl White 370z thread today, I've noticed that a lot of PW z's seem to have similar paint problems. I don't know why, but I'm only interested in PW's lol and that z is the only one around my area that matches what I was looking for(fully loaded PW with persimmon int.). Any info on the PW paints on 370z would be great.
Thank you guys in advance!

my old car was pearl white and it was a very hard color to match. paint in general (correct me if im wrong) is different on plastic and on metal so maybe thats what the difference was. I know my old car has a more "yellowish" bumper than the rest of the car.

Mine is off a little but nothing extreme. I see it the most with the splash guards. Drive fast enough and nobody will notice.

Nissan paint is absolute garbage. It's by far the worst I've ever seen. It's not only white but everything they offer. You do so much as breath on it, and the paint will melt away.

I thought mine was discolored too but then I started paying attention to other PW Zs and noticed they're all the same way. I think paint does react differently on different surfaces and the white just tends to show it more.

I read this from a online source about car paint :

"Plastic bumpers will always change color especially in metallic colors. The plastic has a static charge and the metallic paint will settle different than on the sheet metal parts, causing pigment floatation that will shift the color darker or lighter. The other reason is surface temperature, if the sheet metal is colder, the bumper will look lighter, if the sheet metal is hotter than the bumper, the color on the bumper will look darker. The third reason is flex additive. If the clearcoat is applied on the bumper with a flex additive, it will shift the color slightly"

^Now I understand that is metallic, but same goes with Pearls.
I recently went to a reputable body shop here in town to get the holes the damn dealer drilled into my bumper for the front plates patched up and resprayed. I asked them if they would have trouble color matching and they pretty much said that color matching on a 3 stage paint like Pearl White is tough, but the problem lies with the bumper being a different material then that of the rest of the car. Pretty much everything I quoted above is what they told me.

Anyways, I told the shop a lot of guys with Z cars, especially ones with PW have this mis matched paint problem. I was told it isn't just Nissan but just about every car manufacturer especially with lighter colors like PW.

That is completely accurate. My white diamond pearl TL had the same issue and it irritated the hell outta me to notice such a distinct difference between the plastic and metal colours...it looked like it had been repainted and I considered it a major flaw. I will not buy white again.

my brother in law is a painter. the problem with the bumpers and side skirts is that they are black so it shows through the pearl. the bumpers must be painted white first then sprayed again with the white pearl. he's had a couple Z's come in to get fixed.

The best pearl white paint application I've seen is Lexus. They nail it pretty good.

I believe the UV from the sun causes the discolor of the plastic part.

Does WAX filter UV???

Otherwise we might need suntan lotion for the Z.......

Pretty much on 90% on vehicles out there none of the plastic parts match. its really not a matter of the black bleeding through from the plastic. the real reason is that the plastic parts are not painted at the same time or in most cases at the same factory as the steel is. because of this i have basically had to train the writers at my shop to point the color match difference to our costumers now. so that when the come pick up their rides its not an issue. but i always get the color better than factory so they are happy.

Mine was way off. Took mine to the dealer and complained. They repainted it no charge. Way better now!

Is it really that bad? It's vastly different in different light for me. In most light it's barely noticeable
