Manual Trunk Release!
Hey guys I wanted to share this since some members have asked, And I saw it when I was wiring up the third light.
There is a cable with a handle held in place with Velcro. It is supposed to be used in the event their's NO power and access to the trunk is required. I hope this helps. Pic one shows the handle uncovered by the carpet I used a red tag to show the location. Last edited by Trips; 08-31-2014 at 02:28 AM. |

Pretty sure it is also in case someone is locked in the trunk. Believe it is now a law that there is some sort of emergency unlock somewhere in the truck. My Mazda's actually glows in the dark.

If anyone gets locked in our trunk (assuming OP does have a coupe and not the roadster) and can't get out, they have more serious issues than needing to find that manual release. I could understand on the roadster, but there is seriously no way you could ever get locked in our "trunk". On the coupe I think it is for as Triple's said; in case you need to get it open and there is no power.

Yeah I've used mine on power loss before actually. My battery breaker/cutoff is in the trunk, and once I switched off the battery there while working on the car and then closed the trunk lid . Doors still open though, so just had to reach through for that trunk pull cord.

Seems like it. I think we discussed the idea once in some other thread somewhere. It's just a simple mechanical pull-cable, you'd just need to extend it a few feet and find a way to secure it in place, say along the outer bottom of the driver's seat along the floor where you can reach it or something.

Thanks for Posting
Thanks for posting this. Did not know how this could be fixed without pulling out pieces of the interior!
