What was Manual doing in the trunk, anyway? :ugh2:

I'm still playing with the idea of an electronic release in the cabin.

That sounds awesome, despite not being able to think of a time I would have used it. The Z can carry so little I don't think I am often driving it when I plan to be carrying anything more than a backpack.

I've spent so much time trying to figure out how to make this work and it seems to be stupidly easy. Gray wire in pin 36 of the 40-pin gray plug of the BCM is the trunk pin and it just needs to see a negative pulse in order to pop it open. Now I just want to make sure it rests at ~12 volts and drops to 0 when the hatch release is pressed. If that's the case, it seriously might just need one wire spliced into that gray wire and the other wire attached to ground.

Now if I get that working, I want to play with getting an actuator in there to really pop it open.

You may need a current limiting resistor. FSM will have wiring diagram; you should be able to determine if resistor is necessary there.

not trying to sound like an *** but I know this stuff. Like I said I need to do more testing. I do this stuff as a job haha

Just looked it up in Mitchell. It just needs to see ground at that wire at the BCM. no resistor required. Once the switch makes contact, the gray wire hits ground in the left rear of the hatch.

I'm going to play tomorrow
