Paint peeling!
Some of the paint on my front bumper peeled after removal of my old clear-bra. The car is just over a year old... can anyone tell me if this will be covered under warranty? The car is all factory paint as far as I'm aware of.

Another question of mine would be if Nissan does choose to honor a warranty claim am I forced to use a body shop of their choosing or can I use one that I select... I want to make sure the job gets done right and that they bake the new paint on.

I know that a member named omgZ had a paint peeling problem, and the dealer repainted it. But it was a little different, because he wasn't trying to pull off the clear bra; it did it all on its own.
I'll be curious to see how this ends up myself. Good luck. |

Looks like moisture under paint. Covered under warranty, you will need a repaint. Call up corporate.

Thats probably a No??
Any work done outside of nissans hand is not warranted and thats unfortunate. I would looking at it color chip paint if its in small spots? Anything that there's no way you can't notice it? I'd have it repainted. I could be wrong but you may want to see if the dealers going to help. For your second question, The dealer would get a quote of cost and only cover that cost if your bodyshop charges more? you need to cover the rest but I would ask the dealer to make sure Good Luck and Very sorry to hear Rynil? I hope I spelled it right |

You got the spelling spot on. Dealerships offer clear bra installation all the time so I would assume it wouldn't affect the warranty. Last edited by Imperial; 11-27-2011 at 03:13 PM. |

And just a little FYI for anyone that cares to know... do NOT get VentureShield clear-bra... yellows within a year, stains bad and scuffs easy. |

its less than a year old they should cover it. there is no stipulation on it having clearbra or not that i know of.point is the paint should not de-laminate like that no matter what . If i had refinished that bumper at my shop i would cover it. and also we all know how shitty nissans paint is on alot of Z. its well documented on all forums.

yea when the clear peels off the base coat its known as de-lamination. its caused when the base coat dries for too long before being clear coated. This happens sometimes with factory refinishes because the force dry between stages. To repair it you have to sand and feather out the edge, prime it, re apply base color the repair area and clear coat the entire bumper.
