scottIN 11-18-2011 09:26 AM

Seein' as how I don't have my Z yet...

Does this replace one that is already there? Direct boltup?

*Reminds me of a funny story when my mom got her Jaguar XJS. My grandfather looked at the front of it and saw the huge tow-hook and said 'Must be a piece of **** if they think they need a tow hook that big and obvious."

The stock one is not installed, it's in the trunk and it's ugly. Yes this one is bolt on and all you have to do is take the plastic piece off. And hurry get ur z!!!

TongMan 11-18-2011 10:57 AM

It doesn't look bad. I got a similar one installed on mine.

007MI6 11-18-2011 03:18 PM

If front plates weren't required here, I might be tempeted to see how this looks, but I use my tow hook mount for my Gominigo LPB.

Nice looking piece of flair.

TongMan 11-19-2011 12:24 AM

No rust on mine yet.

Waiz 11-19-2011 01:17 AM

Ebay cheap hooks will rust, its just a matter of time when they are exposed to the elements.

Island_370 11-19-2011 12:09 PM

They look good, but don't use it for a tow. If it is aluminum, they break. Ask any shop that tows. They are dangerous...

I don't think it's pour aluminum, there must be other kind of metal in it too. my lug nuts are aluminum.

Looks good!

That a couple rows of LEDs I see there near the fangs?

TongMan 11-19-2011 06:30 PM

The LED strips are annoying to see now. Everybody's trying to be an Audi.

tow hook

I got my red aluminum tow hook from GTMotorsports and it is not technically a legal tow hook b/c it is aluminum, and therefore will not rust after several months. Somedays i remove mine...these are just more cosmetic than anything to tie in colors and fairly cheap and easy add on if you follow righty tight lefty loosy. ;)

russmanZ34 12-30-2011 08:58 AM

Yes I didn't know they made them out of any other material and I found mine in eBay for about $45 shipped to me. I thought it was a good deal.

jazz 12-30-2011 09:29 AM

id buy one if they were $75...but, 150 is far too much.

No crap. It should come with a tow truck attached to the other end for that!

TypeOne 12-30-2011 12:01 PM

I bought one a while ago.. used ti for a little while and the bolt started to rust a little bit. Pulled it off and sold it.

No offense to anyone, but what's the deal with tow hooks? They seem to be the new JDM thing to do these days and I missed the memo, big time. Are they functional? Or is it just an aesthetic thing?

RoshDawg 12-30-2011 06:37 PM

Looks very nice. Does anyone have blacked out fangs and the hook?

cycy89 12-30-2011 07:19 PM

I have a cf front lip.

Depending on how they're made, probably less functional than factory one. They're aesthetic and I wouldn't be surprised if people want to add bike racks to their Z's. Also, maybe add all those collage of stickers on their aftermarket lips or hanging a stuffed animal/toy on the rear, shocker sticker, bunch of "I'm so JDM" stickers... :ughdance:

Haha. I never got into that stuff. I could understand a tow hook if you're tracking your car regularly, but not for the average person who just parks their car at Home Depot. At least the tow hooks have a trendy look and could be functional, but a bike rack? How did that ever become cool...

370SteeZ 01-01-2012 11:14 PM

Noob question here. I'll probably get laughed at... but..

Any tips on how to remove the cover to screw in my tow hook? Lol
