Covering The Ugly Airbag Warning Viser Placards???

Some good ideas here, I am wondering if it is illegal to cover this up. Surely not.

I was wondering this too. I bet there is some sort of secret alarm that sounds when you tear these off and the visor police come and get you, kinda like the mattress police.

Better yet.. Obama himself will come down from his perch and spank you Osama sytle....

I support this thread. Why not cover the whole (or one side) visor?

Not a fan of the fake CF but i am perhaps in the minority. I do think if an inexpensive fix were made people would buy it..

I'd say it's like those tags on mattresses and the sticker tags on electric cords; it' might be illegal for your Nissan or your dealer to remove or cover them up, but once you, the consumer buy the car from them, it's yours to do anything you want to. It's not illegal to cover them up, well at least not here in Ohio. I can't speak for other countries or states.

Heck, I'm not even sure car makers are by law made to put these warning stickers on the visors. It could just be a "cover their arse" sort of thing for law suits. Like the "caution hot" thing on coffee etc. Have you read your 370Z manual? I don't think there is a single page in that thing that does't have a big CAUTION note on it. Quite ridiculous really.

Either way I'm certainly not going to be worrying about it. First of all, who in the world would ever say anything about something so trivial, and secondly, who cares? What are they gonna do, arrest you?

I've thought about just going to my local decal shop and having some printed. Maybe just black with the 'Z' on it in silver (they'll print anything - they don't care about copyrights). Just don't want it to look hokey. I know a lot of high production cars you can order sticker covers on e-bay for and I've also seen some leather slip covers.

Visor stickers in my last 3 cars: 2002 Mercedes: sticker, peeled right off. 2006 Ridgeline: heat transfer, peeled off but left a shadow. 2012 370Z: Heat transfer, ain't comin' off. I think the next step is a molded in placard.

Maybe everyone involved in an accident can sue the car companies claiming that the visor sticker distracted them & we'll get rid of the damn things!

LOL - here in Oklahoma you can get arrested for the darnest things. I'm guessing that covering the ugly visor warning signs is not one of them.

Well, that's a great idea, but I think it's harder in real practice than in theory for us people who don't want to tear it all apart or get into all kinds of sewing etc. I'm not willing to give up the visor extender or the mirror either, so that makes it even harder. This sticker bugs me enough to want to change it, but not enough to spend days or weeks of my life worrying about either. I think just a good looking label cover/sticker will do the trick for me. Perfect; no. 95% better than the warning sticker; yes.

It's an aesthetic thing which we all know is personal taste. I doubt either of us are in the minority or the majority.

I actually hadn't even considered it until yesterday when I placed the 3M CF on the visor in good strong light here at work. I thought it would stick out like a sore thumb but I was certainly wrong. Last week I got my radio trim covered in real matte CF (by Tony at CarbonFiberElement), and when I placed the 3M stuff next to it, there was a difference, but I was surprised by how little a difference there was. So I'm thinking the 3M CF might even compliment my radio trim. We'll see.

I agree, although this thread hasn't exactly rocked the house either, which may mean we're both wrong.

I am certainly not one of those for advocating frivolous law suits (in fact I'm totally against them), but your post is very funny.

They are definitely distracting.

I think I would just sew up an alcantara cover for it. That would probably look the best, especially if you matched the alcantara seat inserts, door cards, and the knee pads (if you've got a roadster).

I just saw the Dinoc pics, btw. Looks like that's a nice solution.

My nephew who wraps cars has a 12 x 48 piece sitting in his shop for me. I'm going to try and swing by to get it this weekend. Then next week hopefully I'll be able to CAD cut some, test fit, and see how they look. I'll be sure to post pics.
