Default installing Touring seats in BASE/SPORT

First thing, big shout out to Bullitt@UAMotorsports (Mike) for 1) giving me a great price on the seats and 2) getting them delivered to me at my office! same day! Can't ask for better service!

Attached is a bad picture of the passenger seat, the seat is flawless. Has anyone done this swap? I need to know if we have a harness on the base model or not.

Found a couple of switches on ebay:
heated switch infiniti | eBay

Most likely I will buy one that has the harness/plug so it is easier to wire!

I found the relay locations, etc on the service manual attached. Most likely the relay and the wiring down to the seats are not there so I will have to look.

Thoughts?

Glad to see they are going back into another Z! Let me know if you run into any road blocks and I will see what I can do to help.

Thanks Mike, first thing is I will need to check what harness is there or not there. Then either 1) buy original harness or 2) make my own. Still looking for the switches also.

anyone that installed racing seats in the Base/Sport, have you seen additional harness under the carpet seat?

I can't take out the seats until this weekend since it is my DD.

Default huge progress!

huge news, just went out to the car and looked under my cloth seats. THE power harness is there, and guess what on 2 leads it has 12 VOLTS CONSTANT ON! so fyi, if you need to tap into 12 volts for other stuff right under the seats you can use the harness under your seat if needed.

First picture attached is from under the Touring seat. The plug by my thumb is the main harness that needs to be attached to the harness in the car (under the seat).

The plug by my index finger goes to the seat motor ( this came unplugged but i'm sure it goes there as it fits perfect)

The yellow plug must be the side air bag.

The second attachment shows the harness under the Base cloth seats. You can see I put a voltmeter to it, it has 12volts CONSTANT on!

Third picture I went ahead and plug in the motor harness.

Forth picture is a picture of more harness under the Touring seats, not sure where they are going yet.

As far as I can tell, the power harnes has 4 leads. I assume this powers both the seats and also the heating seats. The owner manual shows a "heat seat relay" behind the cubby hole.

The harness for the heated switch is there under the up holder, look at pictures 4, 5, 6. Both driver side and passenger side have power CONTAST ON. You can use this also for power if you need it in the center arm rest but the wires are very thin so you don't want to draw too much amps!

Now I need to find OEM heated switch in stock so I can wire them in and also need to check if the relay is there. I think it is a matter of only adding the switches and a relay so its all just straight plug and play.

With this info, once I finish my install this weekend or tomorrow night, I will convert this to a DIY.

Good news, I just finished installing the seats. Power seats work PERFECT and its all plug and play. No air bag light or anything. Only thing I can't try yet is the heated seats. I will order the 2 heated switches tomorrow but it will take 2-3 days to order and get delivered.

I will update shortly with pics of the install and later post on the DIY.

The pictures are pretty much self explanatory. Disconnect the battery, remote both seats, first remove 2 bolts on the front or rear and work the other side by sliding the seat. Tilt the seat backwards so you can see the bottom and disconnect the harness. There will be 3 connectors and 1 spare. Off the three connectors you will have 1) seat belt switch 2) air bag power 3) weight sensor and 4) empty harness for the power seats/heated seats to plug into.

Install the seats, plug all 4 harnesses, bolt seat down. Plug in battery again and enjoy your power seats.

Only thing I didn't finish is the heated switches. I assume all I need are the switches and it is plug and play as well since there is 12Volt constant under the cupholder there are 2 plugs in the back for the heated switches.

As soon as I get them, I will post again with my findings. FYI my car is #1 2012 built! and has the harnesses.

If you need to know if your base/sport has the harness just look under the seat and you will see 1 connector taped up onto the yellow harness and seat belt harness. You can get 12 volts off this also if you need it for something else but it is constant on!

I am now looking for black leather door inserts!!! HELP!

There are no leather door inserts... However, If you want leather door inserts give me a call or text. I have a guy in GA who can do them for you. I may even have a guy in Cali who can do them as well.

Mike, thanks for the seats again. They are plug and play! couldn't be any easier. I didn't know, so i'm looking for the fake synthetic black alcantara then. Or should I wrap them in real alcantara? I wonder how much it would cost!
