Do you guys have "Two-stage boot release"?

Do we have a 2-stage boot release on our cars? I have noticed that on some occassions when I press the boot release button, it unlocks with one press of the button and I can lift the hatch immediately. Other times, I find that the first press of the button unlocks it and I can hear the unlocking sound and it pops up ever so slightly but it is still latched and cannot be lifted. I have to press the button a second time for it to unlock and lift. Its almost like how the bonnet pops when you pull the lever but its still latched until you release it with the lever in the nose. Is this something to do with the intelligent key? Perhaps a safety feature to make it difficult for someone to nick something out of your hatch if the car was locked by remote?

That has happened to me but only when there was snow on it. Do you by chance have a heavy wing on it or something ?

Only happens now after i put in a heavier spoiler.. Now i just help with the lift just as i press the button...always opens well.

Facing the same issue, I need to check with my dealers service department on my next visit

Happens routinely on my 2011. Haven't gotten around to taking it to the dealer yet. I'll mention it when I have them look at the on-off-on-off passenger air bag light.

Many threads on this.

Yeh but I was given to understand that that problem was solved for the 2011 model-year. Not so, in my case.

I stuck a couple of 1/8 inch thick 1 inch diameter vinyl drawer bumpers to the body under the springs this morning, one on each side, and that seems to have solved the problem so far.

Search for the penny fix - on my car, the new springs occasionally fail, so I'll probably put pennies in again.
