Just dented my rear bumper...

I backed into a car, and now I have a dent in my rear bumper. I was interested in the Amuse bodykit anyways, but would it make sense to purchase it one piece at a time? I was considering buying the amuse kit one piece at a time, starting with the rear bumper right now.

Sounds like you just created the perfect reason to change to the muse.

Go for it!

NickBaragona 11-05-2011 07:24 PM

Thanks, but is the kit really 4k? Can it be purchased in seperate parts?

azn370z 11-05-2011 07:31 PM

You should buy everything together so you can paint everything together and have a better paint match.

NickBaragona 11-05-2011 07:41 PM

It's difficult finding sites that sell the kit. I see one on ebay for 4k + $500 for shipping.

kellyefields 11-05-2011 07:59 PM

you will pay that for the real thing and pay more if you buy separately. I chose to go with UAM,s Amuse kit and really like it and the price is much better as well. And no I am not trying to start the whole fake vs real argument here for all those that feel that way. I just did not want to pay more for something especially double to triple the amount.

NickBaragona 11-05-2011 08:15 PM

Can you link me to the kit?

The quotes I have gotten for the whole kit have been around $5000-$5400 plus shipping.

Wow! What would it cost for a Nismo?

IDK. From what I've read it takes about $1800-2500 to do the conversion, from a non-nismo. And replica Amuse are about that price as well.

Nissan 370z "Amuse Vestito" Full Carbon Fiber Body Kit | eBay

Anyway to tell if that is the official Amuse bodykit or a replica?

To my knowledge an ORIGINAL Amuse is only produced in Fiberglass or FRP, whatever that is. Carbon Fiber would mean a replica.

Carbon fiber means replica. the only company that I know of that sells the real deal is 370tune.

I'm putting my 40th in a garage for the winter next month, so will probably install this bodykit around March. Gives me plenty of time to decide and save up. Amuse vs Replica?

007MI6 11-05-2011 09:59 PM

FBNissan and Logic Motorsports sell the original too.

Yea, that is a WHOLE other thread there. And one soooo full of opinions, that it would go nowhere. It just depends on you. A lot of people will not buy a replica, I personally would prefer to have the real deal, but get tempted by the much more affordable replicas....:stirthepot:

Well is there a noticable difference between the two?

kellyefields 11-06-2011 12:26 AM

I have never seen the two side by side but as far as pics go I cannot tell the difference. Like I said before it comes down to the installation and paint that makes the look.

Skeeterbop 11-06-2011 01:03 AM

I would think the difference between real vs replica is more in the prep required to get it to fit and look right. i.e. needing bondo to get rid of low spots from bad molding.

NickBaragona 11-06-2011 09:54 AM

Hopefully they can match my 40th color well.

NickBaragona 11-08-2011 07:57 AM

I'm surprised the Amuse body kit cost more than the Nismo. Any pictures of these side by side?

LakeShow 11-08-2011 11:33 AM

How did you just back into a car?

NickBaragona 11-08-2011 04:18 PM

I realized I was in the wrong lane at a stop light. I didn't have any cars behind me, so I proceeded to back up and get in the correct lane. A car pulled out of a gas station at the same time. Stupid mistake on my part, luckily the guy I hit had a beater so he didn't care. I could probably pop out the dent, I will post a picture soon.

Unlikely... once it is dented you will notice a seam/crease in the plastic. Did it when someone (cough cough sister) ran into my daily driver. It will also have scuffs obviously.

djpathfinder 11-08-2011 07:40 PM

I have a problem with cosmetic mods (painted headlights, body kit, even anything too close to a bumper, like forced induction piping/intercooler) only because as careful as I am, someone else who likely is less careful could potentially smuck me...should that happen, say bye bye to the mod. You would run the risk of insurance not covering the full amount that you paid for that mod, so I would opt to go with a replica body kit if it is significantly cheaper (and looks similar in fitment and quality) than the real Amuse kit. The potential loss won't be as big. My $0.02.

Good point, I'd like to see a 370z with Amuse vs one with the replica body kit to see if there is a visible difference.

NickBaragona 11-09-2011 12:08 PM

Would I possibly be the first 40th owner to install the full Amuse kit?

Just my $0.02 cents, but the Amuse kit has been done to death. It's a really great looking kit, but with all the replica's out there, it has lost it's apeal to me. There are plenty of other options out there, but I suppose it's really up to you. Just so you know, this kit sits really low, even without lowering springs/coilovers. As with any kit, there is always some fine adjustments involved, even if you go with the "real" Amuse kit. There are plenty of real vs fake threads on here that you can read and judge for yourself. Personally, I'd rather spend a bit more for the authentic stuff. For the most part, they are usually superior in quality (that's not to say replicas can't be as good).

How low does it sit? Low enough that speed bumps would be an issue?

depends on the speed bump but if you are not lowered then it should not be a big problem but a drop really makes the kit. the side skirts are the problem with the speed bumps. you have to make an effort to go over them slowly and at a angle to make sure they do not bump.

NickBaragona 11-09-2011 01:42 PM

Anybody have a picture of a 40th with the Amuse kit installed?

Cmike2780 11-09-2011 02:53 PM

The front is actually a bit longer and goes straight across unlike the stock facia that curves upward from the bottom. If you've hitting the driveway aprons with the stock sports package chin spoiler, chances are, you'll run into the same problems with Amuse, if not worst. This is with the stock suspension. I'm not saying it's impossible to live with, but you will have to be more careful.

Also, if you get the whole kit, it doesn't look right without at least a 1"-1.5" drop. Put the two together and you'll have to think twice about entering driveways with too steep a grade. The only kit I've seen in person was Shadowx2x's. Look through his album and you'll see what I mean.
