There's not much under the base seats but they are mounted at the same height as the touring seats that do have motors. Racing seats will definitely sit a little lower and potentially a lot lower depending on whether you use a rail kit or just bolt them directly to the floor. They're not that easy to swap out quickly unless you fab up some custom mounting solution.

I'm sure there is a way to get the swap down to four bolts. Four bolts isn't that bad even if they are a biotch to get at.

I really want those low max seats, but i just can't find the right rails for the 370z..Does anyone know where they are??

The target demographic for Bride is not rationing their money and trying to decide between seats or "a new audio system, new intake/exhaust system, new tires n rims...." It's a high-end product, and its priced accordingly. Want cheaper seats? Try eBay.

That said...I personally would not go with fixed racing-seats for a street-car/daily-driver unless it was the lower bolster style, ala Sparco Roadster. Dropping yourself in or propping yourself up and out of a fixed seat day in and day out will get old pretty quick, not to mention a limited range of motion once you are in. I have a Recaro SPG in a car that sees mainly track-duty, and I would not want to get in/out of that for a 2-minute run to the grocery-store to pick up milk.

Ideally for me, it would either be a pair of leather/Alcantara Bride Gias or Recaro Sportster CSs (OEM RS4 seats in Europe). You get the best of both worlds...all the comfort you need for the street, and sufficient support for the track...



Or OEM Ferrari seats. Now if I can only buy the shells...

I have what I think is the only set of Z34 BRIDE rails in the US, unless BRIDE USA just got some more in from Japan.

so...is anyone getting rid of their Touring leather seats? I'm interested in picking them up just for lumbar support purpose...anyone know how hard it would be to run power to the Touring seats if you put them into the Base?

Bride's seat are very good choice but expensive! the downside is the safety factor that the Original seats have are bolster airbags for side impact protection. Bride's have none.

Hate to break it to you but aftermarket seats are not just designed for racing in mind. I will pick them up for support and better fitment of myself. I am 6'4" and fit nicely in the Z but with a nice bride/recarao seat I would fit better and enjoy my ride just that much more. Do I plan to track my car? Not currently, it is my daily driver, but is it rice, no.

Rice is the attempt at doing something but either buying a cheaper alternative which has no purpose or buying something that hurts the car (i.e. body panels you add but do not paint or do not exactly fit your car).

The only "epic fail w/ triple-facepalm" is the use of the word rice itself. It's purely subjective with no clear definition, and it's gotten to a point where the [over]use of it is just laughably immature. What's even more laughable is arguing over what's rice and what's not...

I will agree, though...there are some tastelessly done Bride setups around. There is a local kid with a modified, beige-colored, mid-1990s, automatic Honda Accord with tan leather interior and one red fixed-back Bride. It looks absolutely ridiculous. However, it would be no different if it was a top-of-the-line Recaro.

I guess I can't see any advantage to replacing the stock seats with "racing seats", when you don't race.

It'd be like wearing a tuxedo to McDonalds...to work.
