anyone has aftermarket racing steering wheel?
I was looking at some of Momo's steering wheels and I love them!
I wonder how does the thing work? like install wise, is it hard? does it require some kind of like adapter?? I'm new to steering wheels. I've seen some cheap steering wheels from Momo like range between $100~200. any recommendation? oh yea and what's going to happen with the air bag?? |

you'll need a hub (boss).. worksbell, daikei, come with plug/play harness for tricking your dual stage SRS.
no airbag. you will be wearing a helmet to go to the supermarket so who cares? |

NRG makes a short and quick release. I had them in my previous car. When I hit a hog and involved in a rear end collision, I was glad there wasn't an airbag to punch me in the face.

I did this on my MR-2. You will need as the others have already said, a hub adapter, and the steering wheel of choice. Although it isn't really needed, a steering wheel puller makes the job a lot easier as well. I would only recommend this if you will be the only one driving the car since you are removing part of the safety system. What if a friend drove it and got in an accident and either bashed his face or chest on it? How would you feel afterwards?

often times the aftermarket wheel will be cocked like 2 degrees. you can correct it by an alignment spacer from Daikei. they have 2 versions... sparco/momo diameter and nardi diameter. from wat i saw nardi has a slight larger bolting diameter.
i have one for momo/sparco in my parts bin if anyone wants it. $50 shipped. |

You don't need a helmet. The people saying you do are giving you a hard time. They're probably doing it for the reason that Skeeterbop mentioned.... You're removing a safety feature from the car.
As long as you know the risks associated, then go for it. As people above said, you're gonna need a boss/hub, the tools to do the job, and I'd suggest a quick release. We carry all the parts you'd need.

You could always rewire for cruise control and mount it elsewhere. I have never used the radio controls. I have such a habit for using the radio controls after all these year.

oh yea that's true... no more cruise and radio control on the wheel. but that's ok. If I have a racing steering wheel, that's all it matters and what about the honking?? it goes away too?
