need help with missing/broken body piece

I was inspecting my brakes today and by coincidence I noticed a missing piece. The piece is a small shelf-like cuboid piece of rubber just in front of the rear brake caliper. Here is a pic of the missing piece on the driver side:

Here's a pic of the piece from the passenger side, the way it's supposed to be:

Here is where it broke off. The piece actually extends from the wheel well into the undercarriage where there are 2 bolts holding it. It forms what appears to be a small air dam or something. My finger is pointing to where it broke in half.

Here's where it continues underneath the car

What is the function of this piece? Is it important? And how would it break off like this? I don't recall running over anything. And where would I get the part # to order such a thing?

No idea...take to the dealer if no one can figure it out.

try courtesy parts. I don't have that piece on my car, but I have a nismo so I don't know if it applies.

you need to start pressure washing that underbody!!! especially if you are going to drive through winters!

Not a bad idea. I go to the local pressure wash and crawl around spraying around. I like the high pressure but on the ramps I could put some crappy clothes on and go under there with a bucket of car wash and a soft brush. I can't wash the underbody on my lift because I don't have any floor drains near enough. For how little care I take in keeping my exterior washed/polished compared to most enthusiasts, people would be surprised how much I care about the underbody lol

Yah, I didn't come up with the idea, I read it online and tried it. The thing about salt is you need to keep it wet for 10-20 min before it all dissolves away. I don't like crawling under a car with my hose splashing water in my face so I do this after I'm done changing the oil while the car is still on ramps. This is on my dd, btw. My Z hibernates through winter. :D and good idea about the brush. I too use my wheel brush on stubborn areas.

It is a great idea, Kenchan, though funny (wish I came up with it).
