What kind a side add-on is this?
I know its not sunline or evo-r... i like it is because i would be able to keep my front splash guards :happydance: .

why would you want to keep the splash guards if you're doing that?
ill definitely be taking mine off if i ever decide to do the Ings+ sides....(no choice on the ings but yah, splash guards dont belong there). |
just wanted to have that option open i guess. =D
Kenchan! ur car looks so sexy! makes me want to get the ings front lip . hm hm hm |
I'm sure it's Evo-R sides..and Ken's right, why would you want to keep those splash guard?
|
def. evo-r.
|
yea thats what i thought too at first. but if you look closely, this side add on tapers off as it goes to the front. but the evo-r is just one long even strip all the way down. heres a reference picture (simota's Z ^^)

I think that's a combination between the mounting of the product between the two cars coupled with the mudflap addon thing distorting the way the side appears in the photo.
If you want it to taper in as it moves forward, you can just screw it in that way. I have a set of these I don't use and they're just addons that screw on the bottom. Nothing complicated. |
KUSH- i think they just rotated it inwards. it's not like you MUST install it per EvoR's pictures. :D
and yah, the Ings+ CF splitter is definitely nice. (but remember it needs to be prepped and clearcoated before you can install it). |
Cheshirecat, Kenchan: ooh that makes sense. i feel like a idiot now. hahaha but thanks for clearing that up for me
Kenchan: yea,, i'll remember if i ever decide to get the ings ! =D |

yah, about the ings...i wasn't aware of this either when i ordered. it was a chunk of change so i assumed it'd be ready to install...but noooo~ if you're good with prep and paint you can do it in your garage. i did mine. took me a few days total since i could only spare evening hours but in total probably 6-7hrs, a few bucks for sand paper and about $10 in UV clearcoat. :p if you have detailing gear even better cause you will need to polish the clear to get it real shiny like factory finish. :) |
OP,
It's the RX-7 side addon modified to fit 370z. Venaci / Shine auto project car if I remember correctly. Evo-R sides extend same width whereas the one in the picture tapers off towards the front wheel. |
i want to find some side blades like that, but ones that have their own sort of guard built into the front to protect the sides from dust/rocks.
with my 275s up front and somewhat aggressive offset, the lower half of my side skirts looks practically sand blasted. i have to get them repainted but not until i find a way to protect them better. |
@kenchan: yea your right about the price of the lip. i asked my best source for parts today about price and it turns out i can get the shine auto front lip and the rear spats in carbon fiber for the price of just the ings front X_X.... and i'm not too confident about prepping and painting parts yet since i never bothered to try before haha. we shall see
@sinceday1: rx7 o.O? im not familiar with the part so i can't confirm haha. it does taper off on the venaci z though ^^ @phunk: since we were on the topic of ings parts,,, i noticed that the sideblades on the ings kind of looks like it would give the same protection the front splash guards would. seeeeee =] http://www.more-japan.com/files/d_5583.jpg |
Its the Aerojacket addon sold by VIP-Status

sexy Z by the way! your pictures are gorgeous! that was the direction i was going my Z as well  |
thanks yes the INGS would be my first choice but i was quoted $776 + shipping for them in CF, and i would bet that shipping is from japan so forget that!
i am sure that they are worth it in fit and quality but they arent worth that much to me, there are far too many other things to buy in my life for $1000 that i dont see myself getting around to some side blades for the Z at that price lol |
Wow OP, good observation!

if there was a nice wide rear diffuser piece i would do it... Quote:

^^ i agree that its not so much that its a bad deal, its just that its not worth it to me. its not a major enough addition to be worthy of the cost, especially as someone who is more dedicated to horsepower and performance, there are so many other upgrades in that price range that i cant imagine ever getting around to side blades at that cost.
i have a front lip that i am happy enough with, with the side blades, i would also need a rear diffuser of some sort. i am positive that one will pop up that i like between now and spring time.. and if not, i will just take it into my own hands... in that case I would cut off the section of the bumper between the tail pipes, the part that everyone paints or vinyls matte black or sticks on a "diffuser".. and then i would first try the same diffuser as my 350z and if i cant make that one work maybe try the one on my friends RX7, eventually ill figure one out. |
yah, i was thinking too maybe make a diffuser looking thing out of balsa wood and just glue it on there. ;) actually send it off to CF elements and have them wrap it. :yum:
ive not got the urge to go that far yet but with 3 months of hibernation, never know. :D |
