JDM OEM rear camera

We are considering stocking the JDM OEM reverse camera for the new Z34 370Z.

Since this camera is of JDM origin, there is a chance that the hardware and harnesses might not fit as is. so some custom installation might have to be done. There are no English instructions and no visual references (to my knowledge).

Whoever acquires one and can ensure fitment or lack of, as well as time frame and overall reliability, please let us know and we can start stocking them. We can also assist someone in acquiring one from Japan for special order.

Please PM me if you are interested, serious inquiries only.

Any idea whether it'll be compatible with factory NAV?

I'm really wanting the rear camera myself. If you can source me the parts I will go ahead and buy and be one of the first people to attempt the modification).

Does anybody have any pictures of where the camera sits on the rear of the Z?

Same here! I really like it! Anyone know how much it'll run?
Without installation I think I can do it

ENT-Z 05-11-2009 01:52 PM

It would be awesome if this worked with the stock nav. I hope one of you smart folks can do it and post up a DIY!

Diversion 05-11-2009 01:54 PM

They are designed to only work with the stock nav, so I don't think that's going to be a problem, there's a switch that checks to make sure you're in reverse and then the screen automatically shows the rear-view camera's view and goes back to normal when you shift out of reverse... If all the G35/37s have it I don't see why it won't work with our system, our Navs are identical to the G37 as far as I know.

Well I will chime in and say that if you do stock the JDM camera you will hit the Jackpot lol. Many many people want or are interested in this option. I think if install is fairly simple or a good DIY or instructions that could be handed to someone with good tech knowledge or tuner shop. I think they would sell like hot cakes!!

/fingers crossed for easy install!!

slightly of topic if some of the other jdm options can be brought over and work fairly easy they will sell like crazy i.e. the remote start for the 7at and so on.

A must buy for me. We need pricing.

tonmed123 05-11-2009 07:29 PM

been looking for one

I havent found a good aftermarket camera for my Z. I would definately buy it. Would the dealership be able to install it? And if so where would it be mounted. Ive seen those that are mounted on the license plate. On a GTR forum Ive seen one that was mounted underneath the bumper. Would a picture of the camera already mounted be available anywhere? Dose any one know if any other Nissan vehicles come with a camera. I wonder if one does, would they push to install one of theirs instead.

We just contacted our office in Japan and we are currently waiting for a response. We are expecting their response to involve our cost, availability, and lead times.

The biggest issue is whether Nissan is using the same model of nav in the States that has the capability already residing dormant in the software/hardware to make use of this accessory Stateside. Too bad the video has now been removed that actually showed it in action in Japan. There are also pictures and the screen readouts are in Japanese; obviously, these readouts need to be English here.

:iagree: good points. These are facts that we intended on addressing to those who were considering this option.

Looks like you are just ahead of us :happydance: .

We did receive word from our Japanese office and pricing has been released.

The pricing includes the rear camera, harness kit, and attachment kit as well as all duties and taxes in Customs and overseas shipping.

$595, ouch.

zman1910 05-13-2009 04:30 PM

That's a real hefty price for a backup camera..

lww 05-13-2009 11:20 PM

Yeah, I'm thinking I can do it for a few duckets less, but it won't be as "natural" an install. I'm not getting NAV though, so I have to source a display too...

Yea I would say, if I would going to spend that much. I would just tack on an extra $100 - $200 and get something like this.

Hello,
I installed a Kenwood DNX8120 in my Z. It has the input for a rear view camera. I bought a rear view cam on ebay for $30.99 shipped and it works great. It has the standard yellow video plug and a 12vdc plug. But the neat thing about it is that it also has a +12vdc and Ground wire to give you more connection options. Heres the link. New Waterproof Car Rear View Backup Camera w/ 5M Cable - eBay (item 320365007185 end time May-04-09 00:33:20 PDT)
I figured for 30 bucks if it breaks I'll just replace it with another one!
Take care,
Willie

What about???

So...if the back up camera comes with a standard yellow RCA jack, couldn't you just route that to the RCA inputs in the center console (obviously only works for nav cars). The issue would be how do you make the screen go to the aux input whenever you put the car in reverse??

Any ideas?

FuszNissan 05-19-2009 11:09 AM

hummm, I wonder if a Nissan Altima/Rouge Factory Back up camera with Rearview Mirror Screen would work. You lose your Universal Link on the mirror, but it may work. Ummm. I might have to look into this.

That is where the problem is really. Nobody has done a Nav/Video Bypass for the Z yet. I posted a picture thread of how its done for the g37 but to my knowledge no one has attempted it yet.

Asheth 05-20-2009 09:30 AM

On a side note has anyone contacted KPtechnologies?

Thanks for the info. I'm sure some of you smart folks will figure it out and then I will copy!! God bless the internet.

By the way, you will have the same car that I do now -- you will LOVE it! It's a hot one! Get home safe and soon.

Does the Nissan Maxima use the same Nav system?

the SV Technology Package includes a "RearView Monitor [2]"

Maybe this is something to look into...
