Painted Trim Pieces
I have been wanting to do this for awhile and now just got around to starting this. I wanted to paint all the pieces that are silver in my car to flat black giving that stealth look.
Being that the pieces that are around the shifter and the cup holder are the biggest pieces and the easiest to remove I started there for today. I feel it looks more suttle than the silver trim (IMO). http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...mpieces011.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...mpieces009.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...mpieces005.jpg |
Looks good. Take some zoomed out photos if you can so we can see how the whole cockpit looks with the new stealth trim pieces.

Here you go.

My camera sucks. It makes things look brighter than they are. Especially my car. http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/trim2001.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/trim2004.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/trim2003.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/trim2006.jpg http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...s/trim2005.jpg |

i was thinking the same thing for awhile now but dont have time to take it all apart..i have a monetery blue so was thinking either painting them blue to match the car or red to go w it..so i plastic dipped the door opening piece red first..
|
I forgot about the platic dip stuff.
Does anyone know if the bezels around the gauges just pop off if pried on? I'll find out soon enough. |
Let me guess, Plasti-dip?
|
I was testing the plastic dip out for the he'll of it..it's alot more work than u might think painting that one little piece..
SPOHN: let me know how it goes w u taking out the middle silver piece..I would love to take out the gauges and odometer pieces as well |
I have a 40th and was thinking of painting all the silver pieces red.
|
Not bad, Not bad at all!!!

Looks good ducky! I'd just be worried about long term wear and tear. The color definitely pops.
Your stitching looks good dyed too. Elmer's paint or Uchida dye pen? |
Added more pics in first post. I did the AC controls and the starter button today.
|
The black parts look great, not a fan of all the silver pieces in my car either.
Other colors would be harder to pull off without looking tacky, unless there's an overall color scheme going on. Durability of the paint is an issue though. Wonder if there's enough interest in actual replacements already molded in the desired color? |

Paint that shift knob bro.
|
Looks good so far btw.
|
I'm undecided on that. Might powdercoat it though.

looks a little off.. maybe a little too glossy to match the interior?
|
It looks shiny in the pics. Some of them has to be taken with the flash on. But it's not in person. Plus plastic pieces are not going to match the interior that is a fabric based material.
|
I like mine silver... although have been thinking about having them wrapped in matte carbon.

Looks awesome!
If you PC the shift knob, have Mike do a Satin or Flat Finish that will match. He can do others aside from Gloss. |

Looks great

looking good bro... you need to do some matte carbon ;)

The black trim parts look much better than silver oem imo. But there's always the concern about scratching paint off. Still wondering if there's enough interest in molding new parts in black or other colors?
But that metal panel in the middle does not look good at all! |
|
Love it
|
Oh yes. Looking a lot better now!
You left the pieces on the car and taped it off to paint I'm guessing? |
Yes I did. Took a lot of work with some touch ups but went smoothly.
