Knobalicious! Old school style...>>

I had one of these on my Vette that I just sold and liked it. I typically prefer a pistol style, but this big 2.25" Knob just really feels good in your hand...
Seems to work great in the Z. Get em here for about $40 shipped:
http://www.epcomfg.com/shiftknobs.html Tell them what pattern you need, and that you want a 10 x 1.25 Metric thread insert...Have fun!

Modshack, I looked through your Fotki album, and saw that you test fitted some MGW knobs. I'll definitely be going this route some time.

I'm coming from a Mustang, where MGW shifters were the cream of the crop.

Yeah...George developed one for the Vette and it immediately became the shifter of choice! I need to unload those knobs...:-)

Question for you: when you ordered the MGW race knob, did you have an option to make the insert at the top of the knob black instead of silver? I just went back to their website and couldn't find an option for it.

How. Big. Are. Your. Hands?

Kidding, kidding. I've always found a perfect sphere to fit my hand better than most stock knobs, just haven't tried anything that large.

LOL...They come in a petit 2" size too.....

(that first shot does make it look way bigger than it is!)

How exactly did you get the boot to mate up properly? Does it fall down the post or is there a ring or something you were able to use?

That was a little tricky...I had a 1" round grommet type bushing that fit the shaft under the boot at about the right level to make everything snug when the knob was screwed down. Then another large grommet on top to basically match the boot top. Under the boot, You could also use Zip ties on the shaft, a length of hose etc. Several ways that can be done..

You can see the top grommet and rubber bush here:
