Gas Door

Had a request, maybe someone on this forum can help me with.

My Z's gas cap door doesn't have a mount to place the cap in. I called service, and asked them about a replacement, and they are oblivious (since part manual doesn't show the back side of the door). He doesn't know if it's a metal piece that's literally missing, or a plastic piece that can be snapped in.

Anyway I was wondering if someone can photograph the inside of their gas door, and help me figure out if a part can be ordered, or if they need to buy me a new gas door, and repaint it (which the service guy thinks may be necessary? doesn't sound right).

Thanks in advance

edit in: the car is a 2010.. Not sure if the year has anything to do with this, but wanted to throw that in.

My 2010 has a hook on the inside of the door and a eyelet in the tether cord on the cap.

i dont think this exists... the cap hangs from a plastic tether.

I have a 2009 and my cap has a tether that hangs on a little hook on the gas door. The hook is actually part of the door...it's not something that could be added...

Mine too. But I don't use it since the cap then rests against the paint on the fender. I usually lay it down on the "ledge" inside the door area. There is enough room to leave it there and still have room to pump your gas.

I would call that weight reduction STG1

Not sure if my Hyundai Tuscon loaner car is cool enough to hang with the Z's...

I guess its the notch to the left that it hangs from??? the 2 parallel pieces made me think there was supposed to be a piece that fits imbetween here (similar on the G) that the cap would lay against.

Someone will have to show me when I get my car back I guess LOL

I Don't have the hook string. So the cap sits on that holder.

MattP725 09-15-2011 11:38 AM

Mine looks just like that as well.

eddieconfetti 09-15-2011 12:31 PM

i just let it sit instead of hanging it. no point of hanging it. just let it loose
