Default Clear Bra Maintenance

So everyone is recommending the clear bra, but I have a few questions regarding the cleaning and maintenance of it. I believe reading on their site somewhere about specific washing instructions for it.

I am worried about yellowing/dulling over time and also removal in case one of those happened. Can anyone tell me if you have to wash your car differently for the Clearbra areas? I plan to use Meguiar's Gold Class wash, but also take ti to the carwash sometimes as well. I don't want to have to be worried about messing up the Clearbra at the carwash or having to be careful around it when washing the rest of my car.

It seems they have a(only?) dealer for it nearby in Duarte, CA. Are they just a certified retailer or do they install also and has anyone had theirs done there/how was your experience?

Thanks!

I have clearbra on mine, although I'm not sure of the brand/material. (Part of my problem was letting the dealer contract it out... fail. But lesson learned.)

I don't do anything different with it, I wash/wax it with the same stuff as the rest of the car. After a year and a half of the blazing phoenix sun I see no fading or hazing or yellowing of it.

I've had mine for about 8 months and it is definitely a must have.
Only thing I do differently is that I avoid using high water pressure around the edges and I use the recommended 3M wax and detailing spray on the surface of the clearbra to avoid unwanted yellowing or dullness.
I strongly recommend you get it done as soon as possible.

How did it get swirled? Anything particular or was it form the carwashes, waxes, etc.? Let me know how it comes off, if it pulls the paint or has any problems.

Thanks!

A couple years ago I had tried installing clear bra at my dealership. We used 3m. They told us that u could use plain old rubbing alcohol once in a while to restore the finish. It worked for us.

We Clear Bra every car we own. We tried different brands of Clear Bras on many cars over the years. Some brands seem better then others. My husband is a detail nut. We hand wash very carefully using Zaino products, real wool, and dry with microfiber. We never get swirls even on black. We have tried Venture, 3M, Avery. Venture Shield looks the best when first applied, almost totally invisible. Venture Shield turned hazy on a black Corvette which was Garage Queen after only 6-9 months of storage. It did the same on a bright Yellow Corvette. The Black and Yellow Corvettes had less then 3 or 4 car washes, stored under car covers most of their life. My husband and I both feel 3M is better because it has a harder clear coat layer that Venture and Avery did not have. I have 3M on my Pearl White 370Z that covers the front of the car, sides, and mirrors. We also have 3M on our daily drivers. 3M holds up well, it is all we use on our cars now. We did not like Avery.

We maintain the Clear Bra with Plexus and microfiber towels. We always apply a fresh coat before taking the cars out for a drive and we clean again with Plexus if there is anything on the plastic film after a drive. Plexus has gotten expensive over the last few years though.

Clear bra can be treated exactly like the rest of your car... Wash, claybar, wax etc.

The issues people have with clear bra are strictly due to the brand/types of clear bra installed as well as the installer.

I had Ventureshield on my Z for 5 years and the paint looked brand new from day 1 to the day the car was sold. Ventureshield also guarantees not to yellow and has minimal to zero orange peel. The installer on mine also did an amazing job.

As for removal, it really depends on how the paint on the car was done and if there was any impact to lift it off the primer/base coat. I had clear bra reinstalled at one point and only a small piece of paint came off the bumper which was on the lower lip portion and it was due to something probably making contact with it as i was driving on the highway or something like that.

Hope that helps.
