I actually have one on my personal 300zx. They are light weight and do not transfer heart from the transmission or absorb heat from the sun. Its simple in design not to bulky.
It is not weighted like most other shifters on the market. Some people claim to like the weighted shifter feel, but I personally do not care either way. If I can get our shop 370Z for a few minutes, I will snap some shots. Btw...I have the Long version of the Duracon Knob installed. The short is about the size of a NISMO shift Knobm where as the Long version is roughly 3.5". For fitment sake. Shape your hand in the form of an "o" with the tip of your pointer finger touching your thumb. Now measure the width across your hand from your pointer finger to your picky. That will give you an idea of the size shift knob and how it will fit. I chose the 90mm version since my hand is roughly 3" across (based on above measurements). Thread resurrection.
I bought the 90mm knob from Z1 but I am having fitment issues. The knob will not reach the threads on the shifter when I try and use the finisher that Z1 supplied with it, and even when I use it without the finisher, the knob only grabs one or two threads on the shifter before it bottoms out. As a result, I stripped the first couple threads in the knob. Am I doing something wrong here? Here are some pics for reference: With finisher, will not reach the threads: Without finisher, bottoms out on the wide black part of the shifter and only grabs one or two threads: Just the shifter threads, for reference: Last edited by Rulez; 02-19-2014 at 12:57 PM. |

I checked the thread pitch and it's the right one. I ordered it from Z1, so I doubt they would've sent the wrong one anyway.
I removed the silver bushing, same problem. Still won't thread on. The issue is the opening on the bottom of the knob. Its bottoming out where the shifter widens after the threads. Last edited by Rulez; 02-19-2014 at 02:40 PM. |
