I might try to do it on Sunday if I have time. How many cans of primer, paint, and clear do you think I will need? I think 1-2 cans of primer, 2-3 of paint, and 1-2 of clear might be good.

Going on the powder coat subject, I've been thinking about getting my base rims done in a gunmetal color, then doing the protruding edge on each of the 5 spokes in a white. I have to try to shop up some pics to get a visual.

After painting my handles 3 times.. I decided plastidip is not the best option for durability... So I removed it and used primer+paint matte black spray instead, it looks smoother and it can be retouched anytime. As for durability it seems to be more scratch resistant than plastidip.

Ghetto tire shop. Do I need to say anything else?
I have gotten all the plasti dip off my wheels and they are finally back to stock color. Had to use goo gone to get all of it off and it worked amazingly well. |

Yeah I've reached the same conclusion. Plastidip is a good, cheap, temporary solution to keep me happy till I can afford my carbon fiber pieces.

I think plasti dip is good only to get an idea of how something will look before you make a permanent change. I think badges/emblems might be the only thing you can keep plasti dip on for a long time without issues. I've moved on from plasti dip to paint.

The thing that I still like about it is that it's a good protectant for your paint. There's been a couple times on the highway where a rock hit my fangs, but didn't do any damage because of the plastidip.

I've had plasti dip on the fangs for 6-8 months and not a single chip in it at all. Looks great. My old room mate had his fangs painted and had chips within days.

When I was pulling the plasti dip off my wheels, some of the parts that had gotten really hot took some of the wheel's original finish off with it. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow to show you guys what I'm talking about. This might have to do with my new brake set up though since it seems to get much hotter than the stock setup. I installed Carbotech XP8's a month ago and also took my car on a track session. Guess some parts of my wheels got a bit too hot at some point there.
