Ya, yours in the video appear a lot better...Im wondering if I went too lite on the last coat? It was fuzzy and almost soft to the touch. I definitely want to black out my emblems, but I may remove them and paint them properly.

Finally played around with this myself. I like it. Extremely easy too. Just a couple quick shots. Obviously I forgot to account for shadowing. :roll eyes: I can take better pics if someone wants to see this on BS.

Same here. Washed her many, many times, and there have been no problems.

I just painted my old truck with Plasti-Dip. Well, everything except the passenger side door and quarter panel. I ran out. I'll get some pictures posted up tomorrow. It came out pretty well for me doing it really quickly. It's a 20 year old truck, so I didn't care about doing a careful job.
And as a side note, with the exception of a small rock chip on one of my side mirrors, all of the Plasti-Dip on my Z has held up really well over the past few months. One word of caution if you have it on your car - be careful when waxing. I lifted my buffer up before it was completely done spinning, and it slung wax all over the place. It's a pain to get off the Plasti-Dip. |

Untitled by DufDaddy17, on Flickr Untitled by DufDaddy17, on Flickr plasti-dip rim by DufDaddy17, on Flickr a good look at the Dipped rim by DufDaddy17, on Flickr Dipped just the spokes just to get the look. I think it turned out shibbtastic! Only did one wheel due to time constraints. Last edited by DufDaddy; 11-13-2011 at 10:13 PM. |

How is everyone else getting past the Dip / tape issue? Taping out areas hasn't really worked out for me. The heavy coats seal across the tape and then pull the Dip off. What I did for the rims above was to tape everything like normal then used thin electrical tape along the "lines" I wanted then after every coat I removed the electrical tape while Dip was still wet. It worked real well, got sharp lines but it was tedious to reapply the tape after each coat dried.
Any other ideas? I actually did a lil R&D and tried spraying stuff on the painters tape and Pledge worked the best but the feasibility of not getting Pledge on the stuff you want Dipped seems dim. |
