Yeah I know. I'm having fun too. I went to the dealership and asked them if it was a flux capacitor and they looked at me weird. |

The way that weight is designed; how it has 4 rubber like connectors that allows it to float in the center, makes me think it is some kind of dampener.
CaptainSlow.... Just looking for an update, did this fix your rattle for good? I took my hatch off today and added a foam gasket of sorts then cranked the bolts back on . I hope that gets rid of my rattling. |

I had to remove mine on my 350 due to the type of spoiler I had. It wouldn't stay up. I forgot all about this. Oh it's coming off tomorrow.

I've had a rattle/scratching sound come from the hatch of my Z. Drove me nuts. It wasn't from that dampener though. I took off that cover and was prying around and preyed/adjusted the clip on the right side of the hatch that the wing pops thru and Holds. This eliminated my noise for the most part. I think something between my spoiler and the hatch is rubbing but for now the only time it makes it is when my cars been sitting in the sun for awhile and it's not enough to make me want to take my spoiler off to fix it unless it gets bad again.
