I shot a couple sets of 350z handles back in 05 and they still look great. As long as they are scuffed good and you use adhesion promoter followed by a high quality sealer they will hold up fine.

I know thats what I told them(minus the wet sand) and they still didn't want to.

They may have been just getting lazy.
