Stripped/Cross Threaded Shifter

I installed my new Short Shifter and when I was putting everything back together...I must have installed the Shift knob on at an angle because I was getting a lot of resistance early.

Took the knob off and the top threads of the shifter look messed up. What's the best work around for getting this to still work?

Thanks!

I bough a thread repair kit a few years ago and it is invaluable.

This is wat I use....not as elaborate as mr.onzedge's recommendation but should work since stock shaft is M10x1.25. :)

Mr. Kenchan,

I had to get the elborate one due to the vast number and type of bolts I have played havoc with. Some of the bolts/nuts on the 240 are pretty old and I like taking things apart and putting them back together on that car for some reason.
