Modifying stock bumper
So I wondering if it is possible to modify the front bumper in this way or if it would even be a good idea. Basically to make it more functional by allowing more air in without having to buy a whole new bumper. Just the way that you can cut out the holes at the top for the intakes, maybe someone here can make the same thing that can fit on the sides?
1. The first pic the the carbon fiber part that fits over the intake holes, just the same way it can fit over the other holes. 2. Second pic is the type of holes that I'm talking about that can be on the sides. This would be much cheaper than buying a whole new bumper and maybe help with engine cooling. So, good idea or just a waste of money? |

it could work, buy a cheap used bumper of ebay, and do some cutting. if it comes out decent paint it and you have a one of a kind bumper with OEM fitment. if not..you wasted $150.
could be a fun project.

I would but I have no skill with that. I was thinking maybe one of the sponsors here would try that and sell it as a mod to us where we just cut the holes out and mount the carbon fiber piece our selves

i would suggest leaving the mods to the people that had experience with it. you cant just leave the bumper on and cut holes into it, it might cost you more to replace it of you made a mistake.

1st of all those cf intakes cost more than a brand new bumper. Secondly your better off buying a aftermarket bumper. We are coming out with a few body kits this year with 100% oem fitment. Thirdly that bumper posted has well over $1k invested into it! We are working to improve airflow and cooling capability.

also, we dont know what he has under the hood. he could have the stillen g3's which is why the varis ducts are there, and the side ducts could lead to the brakes... so ya never know.

I plan on adding those Intake vents to my Z. But I need to find a body shop I trust enough to cut my bumper.
