I got bird crap on my 370Z right after I bought it and it did stain the clear coat. Either there was no wax at all on the car or the dealer used some junk wax. I was able to buff out the stain pretty easily with some Zaino Z5. Shortly thereafter I did the complete Zaino treatment and I now have 4 coats of Z2/ZFX on the car. I too keep a small spritzer-type bottle of quick detailer in my car with a small micro fiber towel. I got bird bombed again and it wiped right off with a few sprays of QD to soften it up first, and left no stain or etching.
Keep a good coat of your choice of a wax or sealer on the car, and keep an small emergency bottle of QD and a towel in your car so you can get it off the paint as soon as possible and you should be OK.

+1 and some disposable gloves and a ziplock just incase you can't wash your hands and nowhere to throw out the towel and gloves.

As soon as I purchased my 370 I took it to a hand car wash. As the guys were drying it I started noticing black marks on the silver paint. Everything was sticking to the car. Apparently the dealer didn't bother waxing the car. Actually when I picked up the car from the dealer I noticed black marks and had the salesman remove them with some of their own wax. After these 2 events I worked overtime to put wax on the car. In a weeks time after the purchase I put on 5 coats of wax. Since I bought the car at the end of June I have applied 30 coats of wax. And yes I have been keeping count. Wax and car cover are mandatory with these cars. 2morrow I will put on another 2 coats. I advise all of you to do it before it gets too cold.

I've been fortunate so far, no bird strikes yet.

Sorry, type autopia.org in a google search and it's the first hit that comes up. Go to the "how to" at the top of the page. That's a good place to start.

i found that the popular Meguiar's blue claybar is too firm for my Z's finish.
it almost looked like i lightly wetsanded the clear. there are aggressive clays
that do this intentionally, but i wasn't expecting it from their softer blue.

i have a random orbital so polished it all out so no issue, but still kinda surprised.

im going back to using my Griot's clay (which is super soft like mud) since my Z is
only driven on the weekends on nice days and rarely gets any contaminants stuck
on the finish.
