I thought the same thing when I was trying to do a black/blue theme. But now that I'm doing a Black/Red theme, it fits in. I have a few more ideas for internal parts to be red so we'll see how that goes.

But in terms of the shifter itself, I know at least with me as anal retentive as I am, if I have it there and the pattern on the knob doesn't match the pattern on the tranny, it will bug me. lol

I hear ya, i think the red start is great in a 40th or like you said with other red bits. I'm the only one who ever drives my car and the pattern wouldn't matter to me. No one around here gives a crap about the Z enough to even notice that the pattern is different. If there is a JDM shifter around and i have the money i'll go with that, but it's not a deal breaker for me. To each their own....

Props for taking the plunge!

I was thinking of ways to lower the knob when I replaced mine and thought about just cutting the metal shaft a bit but there are a few things to consider. You still need to be able to use the pin to secure the knob, and the white inner piece needs to still fit and have enough travel to change gears.

Aesthetically, The GT-R knob definitely needs to sit lower, especially since it has a flat bottom portion that isn't tapered like the Z.

Matches all the red gauges. Close enough anyways. I set my car home app + Torque on my docked phone to a red theme to match the gauges as well, and swapped the dome lights w/ red LEDs too (not so blinding when you use them at night, vs white). Red's a good color inside the 370

That's why the shifter would go well with a nice leather/suede boot.

You have other red bits, so the red start should look good. Stock Z's do not have any red. At least mine doesn't have any red.

Doc our clips will not hold the gtr knob when purchasing the gtr knob also purchase the gtr knob clip I think it's around 2 or 3 $ only as for cutting yeh it is possible but I don't think I'll cut it's to much of a headache I might custom a leather booth exactly like the one used for the MT I like the design of it and pluse ill have the best of 2 worlds a MT booth/look with a gtr knob = win win

Might as well just take the GT-R badge off of one and glue it on a Z, same idea... Would just just as tacky if it wasn't done right with a GT-R kit and all.

Not bad. A nice option for the 7AT owners.

Would be much better if you would lower it, right now it sits too high and looks awkward.

Hell, this probably works on my car!

Lower it or a nice leather/suede shift boot and it would be very nice.
