Changing The Interior Lights - Anyone Doing It?

Did a search and I know it's a fairly common topic, but is anyone actually offering this service. Are there any shops that can do a total swap out of the orange interior lighting?

I see some have done it as their own project. Others talked about possibly setting themselves up to offer the service, but is anyone actually doing it?

I'd like to know what it would cost and if anyone is doing it or has done it with success.

I'm willing to go one a road trip to get er done! Yep - I hate orange that much!

Why would you pay someone or take a long trip for something that's almost as easy as screwing in a light bulb?

You're kidding right? Disassembling all the interior components and taking apart the entire dash as well as leveling the voltage on different colour LED's in all the interior instruments. You equate that to changing a light bulb?

If you think I was referring to changing the dome lights, read it again....carefully, they aren't orange. Im talking about every LED light that is behind every switch in the interior. If you equate that to changing a light bulb, I'd like to see the bulbs in your house.

i am curious, what color do you have in mind? i think the redish orange is nice, looks very aggressive to me

i knew a guy that could do acura's not sure if hes able to do ours. i too would love to change the lights up a bit. and possibly make the whole instrument cluster lights brighter. i feel that even at max brightness theyre a bit dim but thats just me.

Blue or White.

I think on the 350z, some guy actually pulled the parts off and just wrapped a blue tint over the leds and they end up looking blue. If you are talking about actually removing the LEDs and re-soldering diff colored ones on, then that would take a bit more work.

I knew I had seen this done before..

Go to this thread and prepare to be amazed:

I am now reminded of just how complicated this is and most likely no one would offer that service due to complexity and associated costs.

Yeah....just like changing a light bulb right bx?

Hey Dizzy I am wanting to do this as well we should both look into the cost for parts! I would be more then willing to do the install to yours to! Looking over the DIY I am very confident that I could do this!

DIGItonium 07-24-2011 11:25 AM

Parts don't cost much. Expect to spend less than $200 total for all the LEDs. If you guys can handle surface mount soldering, then you're good to go with these mods.

The most labor intensive task is removing/reinstalling parts and disassembly of the gauges, HVAC (requires desoldering rotary terminals, then lining it back up in the tiny holes, etc.). An experienced modder can get the job done in less than a week.

Did you guys ever get this done? I would love to replace the orange lights with Red...that would match the interior of my 40th and my radar detector.
