Sport Horn is SWEEEEEET!!!
So I ordered the 'sport horn' from Japanparts.com since I hate the stock Nissan horn. It was a gamble given I had no idea what the sport horn sounds like and it was about $90 shipped from Japan. It arrived today and let me tell you. It was worth the gamble.
It sounds incredible...very european sportscar-esque. You do have to pull off the front fascia which was somewhat painful but in the end it was well worth it. Don't hesitate to order these and install them. Sound clip to follow. ***As an optional alternate install, the horns come in pairs...hi and low. The complete sports horn upgrade is rather high pitched (and I prefer it). However, if you only swap the 'low' horns and leave the stock 'hi' horn, you get a deeper but still 'sport' horn sound*** Link to the horns: japanparts.com : PARTS DATABASE Horn clip attached now. Didn't know a better way than a zip file...let me know if there is a way to post it directly. Last edited by spearfish25; 04-24-2009 at 07:02 PM. Reason: Sound clip added |

The stock horns are 400 and 500Hz. The new sport horns are 550 and 650Hz. As I mentioned in the original post though, you can mix and match the horns to get a sound you prefer. |

I contacted them as I am interested in purchasing the more expensive unit, but I requested the installation instructions of which they replied they did not have them! I asked them how I was to install it, and was told the instructions would probably come with the unit. I then asked them how Nissan instructs their dealers to install them without any instructions. They could not answer. After several emails later, and more nonsense I am taking a reprieve from matters to attack it from a different angle.

If it's any comparison, the horns came with instructions in a genuine Nissan box. The issue was the instructions were solely in Japanese. Horns are easy to install, that starter fob could be a bear without a English instructions or a strong Japanese-speaking background.

Clip added to original post. If someone knows how to repost it so it can be played directly that would be great. You'll have to listen to your stock horn first to compare since the stock version isn't included in the clip.
I'm tempted to swap back to either 400 and 650Hz or 400 and 550Hz. The current 550 and 650 is a bit high but still better than stock. Last edited by spearfish25; 04-24-2009 at 09:28 PM. |
