Odd behavior of touch door unlock

I have a 2010 touring. The other day when I parked, I got out of the car and pressed the button on the door to lock it. Nothing happened. I went to the back and was able to open the hatch with the button. The lock button wouldn't work. I put the fob right next to the door and it still wouldn't lock. I was able to lock the car with the fob.

Later that day, I went to run an errand. I parked and got out, and the button on the door worked. So far it hasn't happened again.

I hate intermittent problems. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've noticed that it is sometimes sensitive about fob position so I just move a little and it works. I've never had it not work at all.

This is the first I've heard of this sort of thing happening. I also have had it not work, but moving the key closer usually fixed that issue, so I don't know what might be the problem.

I agree... some times when I have my key in the wrong pocket it doesn't work. Stand a little closer and it will.

Not that often, but it does happen depending on how far away you are.

I know if my fob is in the same pocket as my phone it may not work but that's it.

This isn't your issue because it wasn't working before you held your FOB right up close, but the manual says the FOB can have problems communicating and sometimes will not work if you hold it too close while trying to unlock.

Hmmm. I did try from my usual position. I also learned that I can't have my phone in the same pocket. It didn't feel like a radio problem, but it very well good be the explanation.

If I have my FOB in my left pocket and I'm standing outside the drivers door I sometimes have to move my body to the left so that the FOB is closer and it will lock. Weird?????

Sometimes my driver's side switch doesn't seem to register - you could be having an intermittent switch problem.

ok so i just tried to unlock my car with my fob in the same pocket i usually have it in and it unlocked just fine. then i walked away from the car without locking it and left my fob about 10-15 feet away from the car, walked back to the car w/o the fob and it locked AND unlocked just fine.

could it be that your fob could be slightly damaged or low on battery?

I've actually been surprised how well this works. When I first heard of it I was very skeptical.

Mine did this the other day when i was leaving work. I pushed the drivers side button and it would not work no matter what so I went around to the passanger side and it worked on the first push. Since then ive had no problems with the drivers side though.
