Actually, I just now had my dad look at it and we found some chips/gouges in what seems to be the gas. He said maybe to put some metal epoxy on those spots, but we're thinking the tank is also dented in. He suggested I find a picture of the tank to compare the shape.

1) What is this fiber-board ****? My car doesn't have that (2009).
2) That metal brace is supposed to be flat. It's replaceable or you can just live with it as-is if it's merely bent. 3) Are you sure the fuel tank is dented? The tank is located directly behind the seats under the cargo shelves. It looks like your damage is further back and wouldn't involve the fuel tank, but it's hard to tell from the photos. If there is tank damage, you need it replaced. Putting cheap metal epoxy over holes in a fuel tank is asking for disaster.

1- I think the fiberglass stuff serves a couple purposes probably. My dad said it was an "air dam" but I figure it's also for a bit of corrosion protection.
2- Yeah I don't think it matters 3- Well, it's not holes but chips in the metal. He said they actually make epoxy specifically for gas tanks. If it's dented though we'll probably replace it |

The purpose of those covers is to protect your brake lines and to help with aerodynamics. With that being said, I ripped mine over 3 years ago, and removed all loose chunks. Haven't had any issues without them in place, but it is a cheap and easy fix.

Courtesy Parts has a 370Z parts catalog that is pretty easy to search. Or try the FSM.

Is it the brace that you're looking for a part number on? If so this looks about right. The view in the picture is from the top but the ruffle pattern along the edges and the placement of the holes look right.
