There's a shop here on the west side that does it, I might roll up there and get a quote on how much removal/replacement would cost. It's a definate need for me since AZ is notorious for rocky/sandy roads. Plus on the long trips to cali/back it will defintely come in handy to keep on.

No heat is needed, but you can use some to make removal a bit easier if you want.

Sunlight does penetrate the vinyl, although some UV is blocked. I have seen cars that were covered for 5+ years have the vinyl removed and you could not see a difference in the paint between the covered and uncovered.

The decision has a lot to do with where you live and drive. Here in N. Virginia, especially on I-95, rocks are constantly pellting the front bumper. I never found it easy to touch-up all of those rock chips and keep it nice looking, and I tried.

as for taking it off, i've heard that any spray that's safe for taking off the adhesive tint uses is good for the paint too. it will probably take some soaking and polishing to get all the adhesive off but i'm sure it's doable...

I was waiting for a decent front kit to come out that I liked, but since one hasn't and the Zele hasn't dropped in price, I guess I'm stuck with stock for now. But I think I'll leave it to a shop to remove/replace before trying to tackle it myself.

Yes, with my last car ('08 Accord - black). That color should tell you why I won't do one again. But... they are useful.

My 370 has some rock chips that probably wouldn't be there had I gotten a CB. Still, the change in texture over time as compared to the paint, convinced me that I'll live with the odd chip. Maybe the Platinum Graphite color of my 370 wouldn't have been as obvious as the black on the Accord(?).

To each their own....

Yeah, paint chips and the touch-up paint blobs look better than a practically invisible film. :wtf2:

I've got the Ventureshield, full front hood, bumper, fenders and mirrors. Its an investment for me to keep it protected.

I have half hood, half fenders, I usually have to point out to most people I have a clear bra...I can see the line...but its not something that stands out

All nicely laser precut...

The dealer is offering to replace my 3M clearbra due to the scratching and streaking for $300 (front bumper and 20" hood/fenders). I will probably remove the hood bra and fender bra, but I will definitely get the bumper redone. But NOT 3M!!!

i just got full hood and bumper kit of the Venture shield... it turned out pretty good.. it has a few places here and there and i got a big bug stain on it the day after i got it that wont come out... was a little pissed off.. but then i just had to tell myself its not the car so... i got over it...

im going wednesday to get the full fenders added..... but i do alot of autoX and some track so i think its well worth it and it comes off easy so to me its peace of mind

so my entire front end will be done with no cut off lines showing

Film is easy to remove... depending on the type. 3M is a little harder to take off since the adhesive is a little more agressive. But it lifts right off without damaging the clear coat. I have pulled fil off of cars that have been on for 6+ years. The paint fades at the same rate as he rest of the car so no worrries there. Just pull it ou into the sun, let it warm up, and pull up slowly at a 90 degree angle from the surface. That will help minimize any adhesive left over.

Just like with cars, there are different types of film. 3M has a lot of texture, but films like VentureShield Ultra have much less... and Avery Nano Fusion and Xpel Extreme have no texture. They are as smooth as the paint. They also hold up better over time if properly kept up. Black is a tough color to install on but if done properly and with a good film you will not see a difference in the texture. In fact if you wrap the full panel you will not see a difference in the protected areas compared to the unprotected areas. Graphite would be a great color since the metallic "hides" the film well if yuo dont go with the full panel wrap.
