Default Ceramic or Metallic Tint?

Getting 20% tint next weekend and need to choose. I have aftermarket Nav and use my cell phone (bluetooth) a lot so I don't want to cause signal problems. I currently do not have satellite radio installed but may later on.

A second question, they offer a clear film for the front windshield which is supposed to cut down on heat and glare. I have never seen this before so I am looking for input.

I have a 2011 journey black cherry in case it influences your vote.

Thanks!

I got Ceramic tint for my front windshield. Everything works normally and glare is reduced. As far as heat, I am sure it helps because it reduces the amount of light that passes through. I think you should get Ceramic because I think i heard that regular tint can affect things like radar detectors(not sure though).

you definitely want a ceramic tint. not sure about your G37's, but on our Z's, if you dont get the navi/touring, the antenna is built into the rear windshield. metallic will interfere.

as for the clear tint for the front windshield, what brand is it? some will affect optical clarity, so if you can, ask them to cut a small test piece and squeegee it on. if it doesnt bother you, i would get it. i will have my front windshield tinted soon as well

If you park it under direct sunlight, it still gets really hot in there, but it definitely helps.

Thanks for the mention!

I can 99% guarantee the metallic films won't interfere with satellite radio, navigation or bluetooth, and I can say this because we've done a 2011 350Z with all of the above this year.

I have attached Llumar's Automotive Spec Sheet, as you can see the CTX (ceramic) series performs nearly the same as the metallic at rejecting solar heat... within 6%.

With that being said, the ceramic is a great product but I won't up-sell to anyone that doesn't actually need it. Take that extra money and put it into the Paint Protection!

I have 15% carbon all the way around except for the windshield which is 45%

I would not go with metallic. I want to make sure my radar can see pigs from 1234587456983465834 miles away

So the answer appears to be ceramic. I will let you know what I end up using this weekend.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Huper Optik films but I did not find any installers in this area (Raleigh NC).

Thanks
