I am very tempted to do this to my next Z... its between making this kit for the community or a Direct CF roof replacement...

Glass roof would probably be better. CF roof would not really do much for weight savings over the sheet of aluminum... A glass roof would be freaking badass.

If I were doing it, I would keep the structural beam that runs front to back in the middle, and mold a headliner that looks like a t-top from the inside.

It looks like its only purpose is to support the aluminum panel from collapsing. A sheet of glass wont need it so I don't really see the point in keeping it.

Keep in mind, I'm pretty sure the transparent top on the vettes are not glass. We have had 2 vettes with the transparent tops and although I like them, it does sometimes bother me when the sun is really bright out. They are pretty light IMO also.

Basically what y'all want is the same style "panoramic" top that cars like the mustang and scion tc offer. CDC made the conversion for the mustang before it was an available factory option. Would it be cool yes! Removable like the Vett not unless you do TopGone's conversion. Plausible? Only if a mainstream aftermarket parts manufactorer that specializes in the Z makes them.

When I had my sunroof put in I took a good look at the roof from the inside. The bracket that runs down the middle is very light aluminum. It may help to keep the shape of the roof but my main thought was that it helps support the antenna in the back.
