Anyone with Suede dash yet?

Any pics would be cool. Thinking about pulling the trigger but not sure how to get the stitching done.

hyunsoo1803 04-19-2011 01:53 AM

I think it would cost a lot...but good luck!

christian370z 04-19-2011 01:56 AM

To do it properly, you need to completely remove the dash which is a BIG job. I think it would look great but it is a big project.

Harvin370z 04-20-2011 12:14 AM

I think I might go through with it next month. I defiantly post pics :)

Jamaica 04-20-2011 12:30 AM

Anything is better then the crappy dash we have right now

bullitt5897 04-20-2011 07:05 AM

Anyone in the southeast that wants a suede dash let me know I will give you a discount.

Mike

Joebarchuck 05-27-2011 09:01 PM

How much do you think the modification would cost for a suede dash?

ZOLE 05-28-2011 12:08 PM

Hell yeah. I would like to see this done. I've been thinking about it for a while now, ever since I checked out a Porsche GT3 in a showroom next to the Nissan dealership.

I think a well done alcantera dash with good stitching would be a badass upgrade, but I'm sure expensive and time consuming.

dirTy_shoeZ 05-28-2011 04:13 PM

DO IIIIIT. i wanna do it, im just not there yet. dont stop at the dash tho ;).

haha, what?

roplusbee 05-28-2011 06:22 PM

You guys don't like the dash setup? I thought it was pretty good considering. But I liked the Z32 - 300ZX / S13 - 240SX dash setup. Clean, but everything is in clear view.

phunk 05-28-2011 06:48 PM

370z has a decent dash setup for sure, especially for how inexpensive these cars are. the last thing i would worry about making nicer on these cars is the dash

kree 05-28-2011 11:27 PM

I like the way the dash looks as well. The materials seem pretty nice. Although I have no desire for one, a suede dash would probably look pretty cool.

Carbon Fiber Element 05-29-2011 09:18 AM

I did it in my 350...looked great til after the first summer...the sun faded it ALOT...looked like sh!t after that...I had the dash and the rest of the plastic panels done in it, and alot of cf too.

Apoc370z 05-29-2011 03:04 PM

am i the only person that doesnt like Suede for anything? it makes everything look dirty, especially in pics

phunk 05-29-2011 10:27 PM

i dont dislike suede... but its definitely not worth having a rickety crappy loose sounding interior with poor fitting everything everywhere just to have it... not for me anyway. i see tons of guys that love to ruin their interiors with it. i think about 1 in 50 guys who take out their dash actually take the effort to put it back in correctly. every time i get into a car with a painted or wrapped dash the car feels like a total junkbox from terrible reinstallation and poor fitment on all the panels. i think a common problem is that space the wraps take up make it so that everything else going around it no longer fits properly. i would never hack up my car like that personally, but its points at a ricer show :)

Waiz 05-29-2011 11:12 PM

Here are some dash ideas:

TypeOne 06-02-2011 10:30 AM

In for pics.

I wouldn't mind having my dask flocked... although it isn't a race car it would still be nice.

marcussoori 06-21-2011 01:01 PM

Will have mine completed tomorrow, and will post pics. I have the same worries as phunk, hopefully there are no rattles and installation is done correctly...

theDreamer 06-21-2011 01:09 PM

Not my car and I believe the suede has been removed from the car also. Sun fades it and with the Texas heat it was not stable.

could you just tint the windshield if you inclined to have the suede dash?

Tint the front window? You could but illegal.

theDreamer 06-21-2011 01:30 PM

One solution that might help a little would be a good sun shade, using it always would help protect it.

even 5% is illegal, you cant tell its tinted. Majority of guys here do it and companies even offer 0% tint but with 80% infrared protection.

I was told original alcantara doesnt fade?

Alcantara probably would best, it will not fade as much and holds tighter through extreme temperatures.

your tint scale is backwards... the percentages are supposed to reflect how much light is allowed in... i.e. 5% = limo tint and 95% is almost clear. Tinting the windshield would help however make sure you are above 60% tint or else cops will know right off the bat that its tinted... I got pulled over yesterday by a cop who saw my front windshield (which is 60%) from over 200ft away going the opposite direction. I got a ticket but luckily here in ga its like a $60 fine so I am like whatever lol

leighspped 06-21-2011 02:49 PM

Bullitt

Is side tint allowed in GA? I drive by both state and local police station everyday I take it to work. In jersey no less. No problem... It isn't a problem until it is.. You gotta pay to play! m2c

we can tint every window except the front windshield. we can tint down to 32% tint. but who follows that anyway :bowrofl: lol

leighspped 06-21-2011 03:17 PM

states where the cops carry a light meter to see how dark the tint is..... stupid texas cops.

ghostbusters 10-13-2011 11:48 AM

Would you say that an alcantara dash, headliner and the plastic-y bits of the of the door is hard to maintain?

I know it's subjective but given that I am a careful owner but not one who would spend 10 hours detailing his car, would you say that alcantara is a "lazy"-friendly material? Or would it be better in another form of leather?

Rone 10-13-2011 12:02 PM

In for pics.

fullmonty 10-15-2011 05:26 PM

Ditto, I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. The dash material is the cheapest looking stuff in the car IMO.

In my opinion, the cheapest looking stuff in the car are the plastic door panel switch covers, the plastic inside door sill panels, and the plastic gauge hats. As long as you got the touring package, everything looks and feels pretty nice in my opinion.

I wrapped my interior door sill with suede and installed carbon fiber gauge hats and switch panels and that makes a BIG difference.

Ya that small stuff is fairly easily fixed. But it annoys me when I got this big round rubber dash staring at me from the passenger side. It wouldn't be as bad if the material was nicer, but it kills the interior for me.

phunk 10-17-2011 11:20 AM

^^^ i dunno man i think the dash itself is the least of the problems. am i crazy or does that rubber material feel a lot like whats in the audis etc? it just doesnt have any fancy metal or wood trim running through the middle to break it up... but im pretty sure the material itself is a similar feel as more expensive cars aside from those with leather or suede dash?

not to insult my 350z fellows, but at least we arent stuck with that! i couldnt stand the interior of my 350z but loved the car so of course dealt with it.

I have 55% tint on my windshield and have been pulled over twice for not displaying a license plate on the front of my vehicle. They never bring up the tint....weird.

DaveSimkus 02-06-2012 01:37 PM

So uh any pics? Did you get it installed yet?

binary0x01 07-28-2014 11:24 PM

I think he got smart and quit!
