Lets make it easy for new folks to choose their tint %. Post a picture of your car and what % it is. If you have any more info, post it but keep it brief. If you have a BRIGHT light and LOW light post them both.

great thread...im looking to do tint as soon as i get my plates and get these dam temps off...local place by me has 35...where is jersey did you get the 40 ?

How do you get away with that? What state do you live in and is it not illegal to have a tint such as that?

SRR - Right under his name it says he lives in Florida. People don't care about tints here.
Could you please not quote the picture in your quote? It adds clutter and eats at SSQ's bandwidth.

5% in Florida. Had 5% on my 350Z before this one and have 5% on my 300ZXTT for 13 years now with no problems so far.

brianmac, I have a PW also the 35/20 combo looks real nice. Getting mine done today!

I will be going with 5% all around. Usually they dont give a **** around here unless they pull you over for something else. Thats typically when I roll down both windows before they step up. It was never an issue with my Blacked out Z. On my "look at me" yellow IS300. I got pulled over 15 min after getting it done. The cop was a stealers fan and said he loved the way the car looked but he couldnt let me get away with it. So I got a 50 dollar fine and never took it off.

nice tints

for those with dark tints on the rear windshield, how's the visibility? i had 20% all around on my tl-s and it was fine but it was a bigger car. tint is gonna be the first thing i'll be getting once i get the car.

What is everyone's suggestion as far as tinting the top part of the front windshield? And for those of you that have it tinted, can we get a pic of that?

Tennessee Legal Limit, sides and back. 35%

They are bastards in VA. I had 35% on the fronts and got pulled over after about 6 months. I had to go to court and get it taken off. 50% is legal on the front windows in Virginia.

Just got it tinted today. Will take better pictures tomorrow. I just took the pictures just as the shop was done tinting my car. 5% back windows, 35% Front window, 5% strip on front winshield. I'm just counting the days till I get pulled over here in lovely california.

I too would like to get some input on tinting the top part of the windshield and see some more pics...

For those still looking, my tint is 15% all around. 7" strip on the front. I told them to use the less glossy stuff because it makes it look a little darker. I get migraines a lot so dark windows are a must for me. I don't think visibility is bad, but then again all my cars have had 15% so I'm used to it. Hope this helps someone.

Sorry for the bad quality pics. I have a 5% tint Strip on my front windshield. It looks curved but the line is very straight. Also the tint ship and to do two strip due to my homelink review mirror. You can kinda see why in the first pictures. If you look close you will see the wire for the rearview mirror.

5% tint on side windows and back. nothing on windshield.

how is the visibility with the darker tints?

I want to go close to limo but I'm worried its going to be a b!tch at night to see

I only have 30% on my sides, and backing up into a spot is a pain with my windows closed, if that gives you an idea.

I had 20% on my old 350z. I had to role my windows down at night to back up. But for the record I am putting 20% on my 370z. Its dark but not too dark IMO

I heard military bases don't allow more than 50% tint. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have pictures of 50%?

any one with magnetic black and window tints silver like our sport package wheels? im thinking that might look real good

I know this is a late response, but Ive seen many instances of RIDICULOUSLY dark tint, on every single base Ive been on. Base cops are fairly lenient against that. Speeding and drunk driving, however...

I found this link referencing State Tint Laws and some explanations for the unitiated. Of course here in Pennsylbackassedvania none is allowed.

Anyone w/metallic coating tint and 20% side/35% rear?

I'm wanting 5% all the way around and to black out the door handles and powdercoat the rims black too =) quite a project i have ahead of me..

I just got mine done this afternoon. 50% sides and 22% rear

The guy at the tint shop was pretty nice and wrote on the receipt that the front sides are only 70% instead of the 50% they gave me. 70% is the legal limit for front side windows in California. This way if I get pulled over, I'll just show them that it was done within legal limit.

I'll have pics up tommorow. I think it looks pretty good with 50/22% and at night there isn't much contrast front vs. rear. During the day, there is slight contrast but if I went darker on the front, nobody would believe me if I said it was 70%
