Looks good. Very well done. I just got the roof wraped in gloss black and I think it ties in well with the 5% tint. Looks like one big sheet of glass!! Vinyl gloss black on platinum graphite is the only way to go!!

The gloss is definitely nice.. I went matte though, and definitely dig the look.

How dark would I have to go on the sides in order for the car next to me not be able to see me? :D

5%... however its also going to be a PITA for you at night when your parallel parking or anytime you need to see anything from your side mirrors other than headlights. I have 15% and it's plenty dark. But if you don't want anyone seeing in then 5% is your number.

I'm in Jacksonville, NC too. I just ordered my 370z. When it gets here, I dont know where I'm going to get mine done either. I dont think I trust any places around here. Supposedly street sounds is good and they use 3m lifetime warranty tint.

Anyone know what Texas laws are on rear tint and side tint? How far can we go in Texas. was born and raised in California so I'm familiar with CA just not Texas.

I just had my car tinted. I chose 35% all around. Here are a couple iPhone pictures so sorry about the quality.

Looks a little bit darker than 35%, but looking good! :tup:

utah tint laws are at 43%... what an arbitrary number. good thing my vehicle will be registered out of state

From Texas so i had to stay within the legal limit.. 35% all around.

My Z came stock with tinted windows, no idea what the percentage is either :/ But a little off topic, anyone know what the legal limit is for window tint in FL?

Here's the skinny on window tint films. First, check your local laws to determine the legal darkness limits for window films to prevent fines and having to remove and repalce it. Second, metallic films will interfere with radio signals for phones, GPS, satellite radio, etc. Third, most any warranty is for a pro-rated cost of the film and does not cover labor. If you buy a decent product/brand you should not need to be overly concerned with the warranty.

American Standard Window Film (ASWF) (Erickson International) in Las Vegas manufactures window films, including ceramic window tint films, for many of the window film companies.

3M makes very good window film products and is available from most any reputable window tint shop.

Eastman bought Solutia, which owns Vista, Huper Optik, Llumar, Formula1, Gila, EnerLogic, Sun-X, V-KOOL, and other brands. While Solutia companies offer good window tint films they are marketed at different price points. Of these, Huper Optik is way overpriced and Llumar offers good value for your money.

Other products are available from Madico, Johnson, SolarGard, Solar Control, and SunTek.

What Is The Best Value?From talking to many window tinting companies, that offer several competing product lines, the universal agreement seems to be that Sun-Gard (by Madico), Llumar and 3M offer the best value for your money. Paying a premium price does not mean that you necessarily get a better, or better performing, window tint film. Hope this helps!

Can anyone comment on radio reception with metallized film? My local shop only uses it so they can fully warranty it. I believe the GPS antenna is the wedge on the roof?
Is this film a bad idea? I don't listen to much radio but still want it to work.
Replies appreciated as I'm booked for tint this coming weekend.
