I love the way 35% looks on a car: it gives it just a hint of class and complexion without looking too dark or impairing night vision. How much does it cost roughly to get a 370Z tinted?

christian370z 08-03-2010 05:44 PM

Anyone? I am trying to get a rough guestimate for how much it might cost to get the Z tinted...

NewlyIMPORTed 08-03-2010 06:14 PM

prob like 140 bucks idk i got mine for free because i know the guy

CharBoiler 08-04-2010 11:51 AM

I think it all depends on what type of tint and the area you live in. I got quoted $250 for all 6 windows. I don't know what type of tint they use. You should try asking you local shop.

christian370z 08-04-2010 02:11 PM

That is roughly what I would have guessed, thanks for the reply guys.

VaGntlmn 08-08-2010 11:08 PM

I just had it done this weekend. Paid about $270 for:
Chrome 20 on the front windshield above the A-Line;

Chrome 50 on the front windows, and
http://www.cmonsters.com/SShows/Bill...IMG_1341rs.jpg
Chrome 35 on the back windows.

PS: The legal tint limits in Virginia are 35 on the backs, and 50 on the fronts.

Thanks to all for posting photo's and other info related to tinting. I'm having my car tinted this week. I'm leaning towards 35% all the way around. I would go darker but I think I'm moving to the Jersey area in the next few months. I was glad to read that even with the strict tint laws in Jersey many of you have still tinted your side windows.

I will post photos...

CharBoiler 08-10-2010 11:01 AM

I'd like to thank everyone also. I'm going with 35% all around along with 50% on the front windshield.

resopaton 08-11-2010 11:41 AM

I went to two shops for pricing and this is what I was quoted. Quote included covering sides and rear.

Llumar CTX $279.99
Llumar ATR $204.99
Llumar ATC $179.99

3M Color Stable $239.99

Aegis $159.99

SunTek $149.99

I have read good things about both Llumar CTX and 3M Color Stable. But is the CTX worth the extra $40?

sktvietdragon 08-19-2010 10:02 PM

LLumar Tint 15%

Yup cops in florida don't really bother you about tints unless it's the end of the month.

fairladyZ34 09-17-2010 02:46 PM

finished up my tint and got the whole windshield done at Shades of Gray in PA. Total was 300 for everything, 120 for windshield and 180 for the rest. i got 50 on windshield, 40 on sides and 20 on rears. it looks perfect, clean, and OEM. ill post a pic when i get a chance

SophiaZ 09-17-2010 10:21 PM

^ wow, thats kinda pricey I think. I only paid $60 for the sides, and $125 for back three windows plus windshield banner (and if I ever develop defects in the tint, she'll redo it for free :)
But do post some pics:tup:

FairladyZ10PG 09-18-2010 02:56 AM

I was quoted $225 for sides and rear, but I can get $100 off if I go with clearbra install too for $695 OTD. And it looks like 35% is the way to go. Looks perfect.

Just had mine done yesterday with legal tint.

Added a little statement today.

Just went thru 13 pages of reading, I must say every Z posted was absolutely beautiful!!, Didnt care too much for the shopping cart corvette parked next to a Z, and really liked the jason masked wrapped around the passenger headrest. The blue, black, gun metal, yellow, and especially red look awesome tinted. The white Z seems like it would look better a different color tint (lighter or chrome maybe, just a suggestion,) , or maybe a little more black accents on the exterior to compliment the black tint. Overall very very nice. My Z is a 2010 Brilliant Silver, was thinking about getting it tinted next weekend but dont know how it would look. My best friend owns a tint and stereo shop here in Hawaii and I must say the prices for tint for what most of you have posted seem to be a bit on the high side. But I am a firm believer in you pay for what you get, quality over quantity. Anyway I blab too much. So if anyone out there with a Genius Silver I mean Brilliant Silver Z please share, would really like to see how Black and Chrome would look on it. Thanks and Much Alohas

JCH66 11-06-2010 08:53 PM

I live in Michigan, here is what it says:

TINTED WINDOWS

Answer: The law that covers window applications is MCL 257.709 . The use of tinting is limited to the rear side windows, the rear window if the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides, and the top 4 inches of the front side windows. There is a limited exception for medical necessity with a doctor's prescription, which allows for tinting to be applied to the front side windows as well. Michigan does not have a specification for the darkness of the window application, but does prohibit applications with a solar reflectivity greater than 35%.

So from the pics I have seen here, it looks like 35% is lighter than say 5%. Correct?

Yes, 35% is fairly light and is almost pointless in my opinion. Anybody driving beside you can watch you pick your nose. 5% is limo and tint and is very dark.

370zHawaii 11-15-2010 03:37 AM

I was looking into rose color tint or dark yellowish bronze, I think it would look sick, getting my tint done this week for sure, the color and darkness i want to do is much like the factory tint on the rear window of the Lexus RX300, my best friend owns a tint and stereo shop and tells me they do not make that color tint anymore, he also gave me some good news that Viper is coming out with their own line of tinting film and you will be covered for up to 10k or something like that I can't remember it's like midnight here in Hawaii but I will be sure to find out tomorrow, my car is silver BTW, I know you can't go wrong with smoked or black tint, but I was doing some picture editing and tried out sephia on the windows of my Z and wow the dark rose is awesome, I will try it and if it looks like crap then go black 15%, Hawaii law is 35% all the way around, they just passed a Hawaii state law recently stating you can tint the front windshield up to 70% and if you have prescription you can get 50% on front windshield, I guess it's just too bright here in Hawaii :) ok I am going to stop now I ramble too much

Very nice! Did the installer have to take the door sidings to install? Thanks. :tiphat:

370zHawaii 11-15-2010 04:10 PM

Dam it my best friend and the installers talked me out of doing The dark rose colored tint......went with 5% supreme all the way around and 35% front windshield ......illegal as heck but when you buy a new car here in Hawaii your mandatory safety required is good for 2 years, so I won't have and worries about registration, the messed up part is I am moving to Texas and I here the laws are strict on tint as well, my thing is I am going to keep my Hawaii plates and registration as long as I can so I can "try to keep my tint at 5%" just have to wait and see how lucky I get.....

JB1 01-04-2011 10:00 PM

Had it done a while ago but didn't get around to post pics until now. 35% side and rear, legal limit here in Illinois. iPhone pics taken on a cloudy day, so it looks darker then it would an a sunny day. I really like it, 35% is dark enough for me.

15% on driver and passenger windows, 5% everywhere else including strip on front window. FYI, i have an older car that has 5% all around and i have to say you have to take precaution driving the car due to how dark the tint is. But i've found that 15% on the driver and passenger windows seems to be the sweet spot. Here's a couple pics....notice the side on pic you can get a sense for the opacity of the 15%......at different angles you cannot see this.

When I had my tints done they only said light, medium, or dark. So of course I picked dark as you can see. Later, I found out after getting pulled over by a lady cop and checking my tint % it was supposely 12% Also, I did the brow strip on the front since the tint shop threw it in for free. Helps block the sun glare quite well.

Anyway enjoy!
