Just went thru 13 pages of reading, I must say every Z posted was absolutely beautiful!!, Didnt care too much for the shopping cart corvette parked next to a Z, and really liked the jason masked wrapped around the passenger headrest. The blue, black, gun metal, yellow, and especially red look awesome tinted. The white Z seems like it would look better a different color tint (lighter or chrome maybe, just a suggestion,) , or maybe a little more black accents on the exterior to compliment the black tint. Overall very very nice. My Z is a 2010 Brilliant Silver, was thinking about getting it tinted next weekend but dont know how it would look. My best friend owns a tint and stereo shop here in Hawaii and I must say the prices for tint for what most of you have posted seem to be a bit on the high side. But I am a firm believer in you pay for what you get, quality over quantity. Anyway I blab too much. So if anyone out there with a Genius Silver I mean Brilliant Silver Z please share, would really like to see how Black and Chrome would look on it. Thanks and Much Alohas

Just had mine done today. I can see slight bubbles in it and whenever I open the drivers door I can hear the film scrape something:eekdance:

I live in Michigan, here is what it says:

TINTED WINDOWS

Answer: The law that covers window applications is MCL 257.709 . The use of tinting is limited to the rear side windows, the rear window if the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides, and the top 4 inches of the front side windows. There is a limited exception for medical necessity with a doctor's prescription, which allows for tinting to be applied to the front side windows as well. Michigan does not have a specification for the darkness of the window application, but does prohibit applications with a solar reflectivity greater than 35%.

So from the pics I have seen here, it looks like 35% is lighter than say 5%. Correct?

Yes, 35% is fairly light and is almost pointless in my opinion. Anybody driving beside you can watch you pick your nose. 5% is limo and tint and is very dark.

I was looking into rose color tint or dark yellowish bronze, I think it would look sick, getting my tint done this week for sure, the color and darkness i want to do is much like the factory tint on the rear window of the Lexus RX300, my best friend owns a tint and stereo shop and tells me they do not make that color tint anymore, he also gave me some good news that Viper is coming out with their own line of tinting film and you will be covered for up to 10k or something like that I can't remember it's like midnight here in Hawaii but I will be sure to find out tomorrow, my car is silver BTW, I know you can't go wrong with smoked or black tint, but I was doing some picture editing and tried out sephia on the windows of my Z and wow the dark rose is awesome, I will try it and if it looks like crap then go black 15%, Hawaii law is 35% all the way around, they just passed a Hawaii state law recently stating you can tint the front windshield up to 70% and if you have prescription you can get 50% on front windshield, I guess it's just too bright here in Hawaii :) ok I am going to stop now I ramble too much

Very nice! Did the installer have to take the door sidings to install? Thanks. :tiphat:

370zHawaii 11-15-2010 04:10 PM

Dam it my best friend and the installers talked me out of doing The dark rose colored tint......went with 5% supreme all the way around and 35% front windshield ......illegal as heck but when you buy a new car here in Hawaii your mandatory safety required is good for 2 years, so I won't have and worries about registration, the messed up part is I am moving to Texas and I here the laws are strict on tint as well, my thing is I am going to keep my Hawaii plates and registration as long as I can so I can "try to keep my tint at 5%" just have to wait and see how lucky I get.....

I am planning to do one. Any suggestion? Does it kinda distract the view if you do it.especially at night??

JB1 01-04-2011 10:00 PM

Had it done a while ago but didn't get around to post pics until now. 35% side and rear, legal limit here in Illinois. iPhone pics taken on a cloudy day, so it looks darker then it would an a sunny day. I really like it, 35% is dark enough for me.

15% on driver and passenger windows, 5% everywhere else including strip on front window. FYI, i have an older car that has 5% all around and i have to say you have to take precaution driving the car due to how dark the tint is. But i've found that 15% on the driver and passenger windows seems to be the sweet spot. Here's a couple pics....notice the side on pic you can get a sense for the opacity of the 15%......at different angles you cannot see this.

and of course, there's never anything better than comparing your tint next to a Halloween naughty nurse Hooters girl:
