Hey everyone, I'm going to G5 on saturday in Pasadena, ca.

Does anyone know anything about different film qualities and does it really make a difference? The place I usually go to was about $140 for the whole car (sedan). I'm looking for more info on Huper Optik and whether or not it's worth the price. G5 wants something like $295 for the 370z (and they consider it a half car - full price is something like $395).

I just had my 370 done by G5 yesterday, although I went to the Alhambra location. What sold me about the Huper Optik or any ceramic tints is the significant heat reduction. Although its cooling down in SoCal I can imagine it really helping in the summer.

Yeah, they're booked up at the alhambra location. In anycase I need to go to the apple store so I'll drop my car off and hang out around old town for a little bit.

Just realized our cars are going to look exactly the same. Infact Ricky mentioned you when I made the appointment!

I haven't read through all 27 pages of this, but I found this picture online that I think may help people who are undecided; though I think the 5% is a bit exaggerated.

I'm probably getting my first Z at the end of the week and am hoping to do 2 things immediately;
3M clear vinyl protection (full hood and bumper) and tint.

Getting a quote for the clear vinyl and 35%VLT with 20% reflection (brow/sides/rear) for Mag.Blk 2011 Z. That's the most you can do here in NC....legally.

:happydance:

good call on the 3M and tint varies per state, but most states allow the back to be as dark as you want. :icon17:

Growing up in Ill, I knew everyone and could get away with it. But, I've moved here to NC back in 2009 and don't know 'a guy'. When I got the 07 Civic tinted, the insp station called me out on being RIGHT at the limit using a light reading tool. To get there I believe we did a 13% backed with a 22% (limited product line). My guess is I'll have them lay a reflective first to about the same as 22-25% and finish the rest with what's remaining.

Although, ASWF makes a 34% metallic that may just squeak me by. Anyone use their product that can testify by them?

Link for those who don't know 'a guy'.

Question:
I put on 35 3m tint and its looking good from the outside, but the view through my hatch from the rear view mirror is a bit "wavy"

Will that "cure" out or is there an optically superior film I could use? It's not bad, just noticeable.

I guess another option is to put in factory tinted glass. I saw a tinted hatch on the 2012 nismo the other day at the dealer.

Has anyone heard or had experience with 3M Crystalline Window Tinting product?

Looking to get my windows tinted and came across the above product online.

It's expensive, so I would like to get some feedback on whether or not this stuff is any good. Short/Long term reliability? Not sure how long it's been out on market.

just go with SG the best out there thats what I installed on my Z

Also when your shop does the back window make sure its cut to the right length, which means it is an inside job he has to sit there and cut it out slowly, sadly it may look wrong, atleast the guy who did mine wasnt a fatass so he could fit in the hatch :bowrofl:

Hey guys,

Question for you. I live in CT and today my brother got a "warning" about his tint from a cop. Apparently we need a sticker from the dmv that says its been approved. Has anyone heard of this before? I dont want to run into this problem as i have 20% all around. Anyone have any ideas of how to get around this haha..
